Glasto 04 DVD........from Spliffboy!

Post by spliffboy »

Sorry it's taken me so long to post this message as I know you've been waiting for a while now.....................................................

I have the DVD (I've not watched it all, only flicked as yet, but what I have seen loks and sounds great!!!
I';;ll get several copies burned up as fast as I can........this will probably take me at least a week as I'm relying on others to do it for me............once I'm ready I'll let you all know.

We need to start a chain going.........I'm only burning a few copies, everyone will have to help pass some on if they want a copy...............how do we go about doing this?
I've not beenn involved in a chain like this before...........suggestions please!
I'll post again when I'm ready with the dvds or if a reply from me is needed!

Cheers,
Paul

Hello,

You can set it up similarly to the complete works tree that was here a while ago. However, I don't think that too many people have DVD burners.

Having said that, I have one at work and would be willing to burn copies for a number of people for B&P.

and with autogk, you can just rip it and bit torrent it in a nice small divx movie file. negate the post office and burning. or just burn the smaller movie to disc. and there is another program called mpeg movie maker that wil convert the file back to a dvd compatible fille, vcd.

i've got it too. one thing is it's in PAL format. some DVD players here in the states can play back PAL, others can only handle NTSC.

i'm working on converting it to NTSC. let me see what works & i'll post back with results.

Burning the Show

Post by ninhalo4teen »

DVD Burner right here, another one for the states. I hope this gets off the ground, its needed. O and about the format, i think anyone with a computer and a dvd player is alright. Most players like divx seem to be able to handle it unless its coded or some stuff like that, it gets hard to get everyone on the same page, i reccomend not dealing with coding, just burn it, then copying is easy for everyone down the line.

At the risk of sounding like a cheeky fucker, I'd just like to say: I haven't got a DVD burner, but would very much like to see a dvd of this. I will be the end of the chain.

I'll send a blank dvd/cash, and an old fashioned cassette tape of Spacemen 3 AND LOOP at Reading 1989 to anyone who'll do me the honours. PM me.

Clownbait,

i do it all on a Mac. hopefully you are running OS X 10.2 or 10.3, that's where all the software is being developed now.

here's a good forum to get you started:
http://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=9

if you want to "back up" protected DVDs, use MacTheRipper 2.0.
from there, use DVD2OneX to compress to 4.4 GB if needed.
then burn using Toast 6.

I am running OS 10.2. I downloaded MacTheRipper so I can import dvds now but DVD2oneX wont let me compress anything. I am running the demo version though. do I need to register it in order to get it to work? (anyone got a serial number and name?) Also I was burning a live show on DVD (throught toast 6) and I got the following warning.

Sense Key = Illegal Request
Sense Code = 0x21, 0x02
BUFFER UNDERRUN

Any advice?

update your OS to at least 10.2.6, preferably 10.2.8.
do a "repair permissions" (using disk utility / first aid) before & after each update applied.

also download the Toast 6 updates, it's now up to 6.0.7.
at least get 6.0.3, it fixed some minor bugs.
you will need your installer code handy.

Nope, that's not what I meant. It's great to be on your own, setting trends, off the beaten path, that kind of thing. Sort of like those headless Steinberger basses that popped up in the eighties that they probably sell about 15 of, worldwide every year. They're supposed to be light years ahead of basses that have headstocks and regular tuning pegs. It's just, well, weird that more people don't play them if they're so damned good...

I'd really like to get my hands on a copy of this DVD. Friends them play on BBC3 or whatever it was shown on and said it was great!

I have a DVD of the band's show at the Forum in London from earlier this year that i would happily trade for it, or B&P if desired.

If someone can help me out here, PM me and we can organise something.

Wouldn't mind a copy of this myself.
If anyone in the UK is willing to do me a copy???

I have a DVD list at:
http://www.geocities.com/theblacklodge2001/dvdr.html
which is upto date with the exception of a couple of nick cave DVDs

and my audio list can be found at:
http://www.geocities.com/theblacklodge2001/trades.html
lots of spacemen 3 missing from that list...so many boots and so little time...

if anyone can sort me out then please get in touch.

thanks
Christopher.

unforunayely, I'm nowhere near ready with the DVDs but thats not why I'm posting.................I am only going to burn 5 or 6 DVDs and pass them on.........those I pass on to must agree to pass one copy on to the next person in the chain..........I'm not interested in trading or burning up 6 copies for you to distribute in the states (I have no dvd burner either and am paying for any copies I get made so I'm very limited as to how many I can do........sorry, if I were rich I'd shower you all with glasto dvds)

Any that are willing to participate under these terms, get yourselves into a chain.............start PMing each other and arrange who is going to pass on to who!

Hopefully I'll be ready to post of the dvds next week!

are you in the UK or US?

we really should set up a proper tree/vine/whatever, so i can send out like 2 of them and those with burners can pass them on.

i'd prefer to start with US folks with burners; how shall we set up the list?

I plan to mail out a few to US fans (initially) with burners, so they can pass on copies to those without.

Another possible route is to use http://www.easytree.org (seems they're down right now) to distribute via bittorrent.

It is not down but it seems you need a direct link to a topic to get in today..

It would take me almost three days to torrent a dvd there (if it is over 4 gig), but if several people seeded initially it would be much quicker..

I don´t have a copy but would be interested in a b&p dvd if a couple of you guys/gals wants to do this (the multiple seeds thing).. pm me
