Anyone else heard Joensuu 1685 before? Someone told me about this band the other day. Soundwise they feature elements of JAMC/BRMC/A Place To Bury Strangers/Singapore Sling/Spz I suppose. There's not much new here, but nevertheless I quite like what I've heard so far.

I know the band and have been a fan for couple of years now. I live in Finland where the band is also from.
They are truly a great piece of work, especially if you get a chance to see them live. On record they might sound still a bit lost at times, but once they get their live set-up going, it's an experience. Going to see them live again this Wednesday, actually.
And yes, their sound is a lot like BRMC/JAMC etc. and they use Jesus themes too (the two brothers from the band were brought up in a very religious family) but still have that little something of their own as an extra. Makes them interesting at least. They've also covered Suicide's Dream Baby Dream (live only) and sometimes the guitarist/singer Mikko performs just on his own as a solo set and covers old country and gospel songs and stuff like Stealers Wheel's Stuck in the Middle.
My favourite from them is definitely the song 'Crystal Light'. Doesn't get much more hypnotic than this, especially (again) if you catch them playing this one live when they switch on the strobos.
That cover they made of Bruce Springsteen's I'm On Fire is great by the way! They usually start their live set with that song nowadays. Sets the mood quite well, since they tend to make it at least 16 minutes long, hehe.
