New MC5 6 Disc Box ~ Purity Accuracy

Post by TheWarmth »

Noticed this on http://www.sirendisc.com today:

Amazing high quality 6-CD box containing 73 demo versions, alternate takes, live and unreleased material spanning the earliest 1965 rehearsal recordings through 1970 live performances, along with tracks from the 2003 reunion show in London.
Country: U.K.
Format: 6-CD
Expected Release Date: 20-Sep-04

Sounds pretty cool. Wish the Stooges would release something like this.

The title is very Spacemen 3, too.

Yeah, this looks enticing. Yet I haven't been able to tell--from reading about it--if it doesn't just aggregate a bunch of those Total Energy releases that are largely just abject in their fidelity. Is it *new* unreleased stuff, or just the unreleased stuff from "66 Breakout" etc etc.

i agree, i have a few "unreleased" albums. and all of them the sound quality is piss poor.

why? the MC5 are not a "bad" band. they are above average at least. plus, this boxset is gonna be easy to obtain once its released so why the harsh words? has $26 bashing of the stooges taken its toll?

"Oh, wow! A six-disc set of crappy, un-released bullshit from the MC5! (That was probably recorded by one of their roadies with one of those litlle mini tape recorders.) Uh-oh, (wipes cum from keyboard). Hold on, I'm having a heart attack..."

For fuck's sake, grow up you guys...
