Eh?.... I was pretty sure vinyl wasn't happening by anyone anywhere but it's cool for those that don't have a copy.

Hmm..... did a search online and from the small amount of info i could gather, the label putting this out, Plain, doesn't seem to have a good rep for quality sound on their vinyl.

Plain did the MBV and Mazzy Star reissues. I cant tell the diff on the MBV LPs but the Mazzy Stars Lps sound great here.

Have an original MBV Loveless and a 180gr Plain and there is a big difference. The original has
superior sound dynamics.

I wonder if it will come in a black sleeve. If it does I'm in. If not I'm probably in too anyway.
It's nice to be liked,

I can't afford this, I could sell my original I guess, seen as it doesn't play properly anyway, heh.

that will come to England via the US(barring anymore volcanoes) hence shipping it over which will add something to the cost. It should be reasonable on this side(US) of the Atlantic.

So, as a collector of Spiritualized vinyl rather than a player, do I hold out for that elusive original copy of L&GWAFIS or just bite the bullet and plump for this? :?

i'd get this one. The LAG LP collectors market will plummet after this is released. Look for a rash of them on ebay asap. And half of them dont play right.

I'm definitely waiting until an official announcement before ordering this. I've read some mixed reviews about Plain Recordings pressings and grumblings about the fact that they can be very slow to deliver pre-ordered product.

Pretty cool to see. I'll be getting a copy if it's legit.

Looking forward to hearing the different mix and track order.

I hope it comes with the original vinyl sleeves. It would be a disappointment if they were the standard white ones.

I don't believe the mix is much different (if at all different) apart from 'The Individual'. I certainly prefer the track order though.

Was there any news on this? Has an official release been sanctioned - or is this no more than a bootleg? Some clarity would be great so we do/don't spend cash.

I'm sure he will - his post wasn't that long ago. The fact the very reputable places like Norman are advertising it suggest there is weight to the rumour of a reissue, but I'll only believe it when spazed99 confirms it.

Really? There have been quite a few cases where Spazed99 has confirmed gigs way after other sources have given the go ahead to buy tickets haven't there? I'm not saying that this vinyl reissue is or isn't 100% genuine, just that the supposed "official sources" on here are just usually a bit lax when it comes to giving out any 1st hand information.

That's true but this place is hardly his main priority - it's not run by Spiritualized or their management but happily it is sanctioned by them. This forum is independently run and paid for - actually by Mark Modlab generally - by the people who take part and it remains one of the best sources of info about the band there is. We are fortunate to have an incredible IT man in Nightwash running it. The fact spazed bothers putting stuff here at all is fantastic. I know official word often comes late but if spazed says he's unaware of it I am cautious until I hear confirmation. I'm guessing this will happen but I'd prefer to hear word from the horse's mouth.

Other examples of 'near things' - there are catalogue numbers for Glass CD issues of Sound of Confusion and Perfect Prescription. Taang! have test pressings on 11" of The Singles. There was also meant to be some Taang! issue of Hypnotized - I have a poster with it on. These things were all in the pipeline but didn't happen.

Apologies for tardy reply. We have not been informed about this vinyl re-issue by Sony who own the rights to the album. That doesn't mean it isn't officially sanctioned it's more relative to Sony knowing its left hand from its right etc. We are chasing this up and as soon as I get a definitive answer it will be posted. Thank you for your patience.

Not so tardy. Sony have just told me that this has been officially licensed by them to a third party distributor, using the original artwork, no changes are allowed. So while the artwork remains the same we cannot be held responsible for the quality of reproduction or the actual vinyl. But it is an authorised re-issue.

Thanks for the info. Based on that I'll hang fire on buying any re-issue until I've heard reviews about the quality.

Just a shame that the release will be a little late for my Birthday-present-to-self spending spree of last weekend. I guess I'll have to treat myself once more!

Just been watching and original copy on Ebay go fro just less than a hundred quid.

It can't be right. LAGWAFIS on single vinyl, meaning about 35 minutes a side? It would be virtually unplayable.

I think they've cocked up and copied the track listing info directly from the LAGWAFIS/LICD twin CD release.

Just an update on the release from norman recs.

I pre ordered mine over 2 weeks ago before I went abroad for 2 weeks to get married. After carrying the missus over the thresh hold @ 6am yesterday I dropped her darted to the living room to the pile of parcels & letters our kid had piled up while we were away & no LAGWAFIS vinyl!!

After a slap off the wife I dropped the guy an email chasing it up & got these 2 very pro replies the 2nd one really did have me in stitches:

1.

Tim
nah it's not arrived yet!
cheers

cheers

I got mine today! I hope to listen to it tonight and blog about it soon...

edit:
Gave it one listen so far, and it sounds quite amazing. The clarity of the instrumentation is a revelation.

Quick thoughts:

It's the old version of the title track and the artwork is the same version of blue on white.

I will have further thoughts and pictures on my blog by the end of the day:
http://indieethos.wordpress.com/

btw, this came from Aural Exploits and I placed the order over a month ago, on May 30.
