Eye patches, parrots, pirate patois, and-- oh yes-- more sweet indie rock/dance acts than you can shake a peg leg at: it's the Treasure Island Music Festival, returning to the historic San Francisco island September 20 and 21.
Band for band, there's hardly a non-gem in this bunch: TV on the Radio, Justice, the Raconteurs, Vampire Weekend, Spiritualized, Goldfrapp, Okkervil River, Hot Chip, CSS, Fleet Foxes, Dodos, Aesop Rock, Tokyo Police Club, Tegan and Sara, Amon Tobin, the Kills, Dr. Dog, Antibalas, Foals, John Vanderslice, and more.
And if bands aren't really your thing, there are always the sideshow attractions, including a ferris wheel, live art installations, "treasure hunts", and the guy with the real loot, the Ice Cream Man!
Trying to decide if I'm going to bother with this or not... I'm not too big on festivals.
