Heard a rumour they're playing N.Y in July. Is this true?

When Spiritualized were announced for ATP earlier this year, it was "a European exclusive", which would indicate (to me, at least) that there were plans to take the Ladies and Gentlemen... show to the US.

And as ticketmaster rather prematurely announced it will be Radio City Music Hall, Friday, July 30th. This will be the only North American Ladies and Gentlemen show, and the final one.

Fucking stellar.
I live 20 minutes outside of Manhatten.
I'll be at Radio City the week before for another gig.
Looks like I'll be there on the 30th.

Won't be able to make it for a number of reasons. Shame it was announced less than two months before.

Does this show entail the inclusion of a Rockettes section?

Steve:
I will be there as well. We must meet up. I haven't been to NYC since 1995. I was on a retail panel at CMJ. I went to McSorely's Ale House and had 4 pints before the panel w/another panel participant and all I could think about the whole time on this panel was that I had to pee. Bad. The 4 pints really took care of my fear of public speaking and sharpened my cynicism. I knew I was closing up shop and needed one last hurrah in the music biz. Didn't go down particularly well w/others on the panel but the audience enjoyed the two of us w/dutch courage telling what we really thought.

If you go to a Ticketmaster box office or outlet you can pay in cash.

The tickets available via the pre-sale do not have the monopoly on the 'best' seats.

so AMEX has the pre-sale? i assume then the sale code will be to enter your CC digits? I don't want to have to fight for good seats with the general public but I know other times I've tried credit card based presales, the seats were not only not the best, they were outright bad..

If the pre-sale is AMEX then yes, to pre-order you will need an AMEX card no matter where you go. AMEX has only bought a certain allocation of tickets, though, so the show can not be sold out from pre-sale. If you wait until Monday, you will be guaranteed a CHANCE at getting tickets(though, of course, not guaranteed a ticket)

Nice. I ordered a AMEX card a few weeks ago for this very purpose! Tried to get Roger Waters tickets and needed an AMEX for the presale.

That worked out nicely. Now I just need to hope I can pull decent seats with this. Worse comes to worse I can buy some more on the regular presale date and sell the AMEX seats if they aren't as good.

Flying in from Denver for this. Recorder WILL be in tow. :D

I wouldn't worry.
The pit seats are only available for select performances.
It would be where the orchestra would play.

The link comes up in google as being on the news page and, for whatever reason, that line " The event will be recorded live and a limited edition CD will be available " also comes from the news feed, but it's from the second Silent Sound broadcast and does not pertain to the radio city music hall show.

I wouldn't mind a live LAGWAFIS release though....

So I guess this is being billed as part of Spin's 25th anniversary concert series.

Either that or they are playing another show in NYC around the same time, it's really not clear from their article: http://www.spin.com/articles/flaming-li ... ert-series

EDIT: Correction, it is the Radio City Music Hall show. No other show, according to Consequence of Sound. People going to NYC to see the show might be interested in going to the other ones though. http://consequenceofsound.net/2010/06/1 ... itualized/

Hah! Now you have me thinking of asking my wife to pick a musical...but it will have to be after the Gories, who are playing for free on Saturday at 2pm "Outdoors at Lincoln Center"....(They're also doing a show the same night as Spiritualized that will probably start very late....theoretically poss. to catch it AND the SPT show...)

Now I'm getting greedy. Better look into that musical...

I do know when Spiritualized played the Apollo Jason rehearsed a "choir" all day in NYC who also backed them in Toronto and Boston on the acoustic tour. Given the fact they are only playing one show its probably the same women. And they were fantastic as you will remember Steve.

A very good day here that just brought a whole new curve ball to this show. I've been dropping in the Ticketmaster site over the past week or so to see if there were any sweet seats to upgrade to. I could not believe my eyes when this afternoon I pulled two tickets in PIT Row AAA. I am still in shock! lol. The other pair I have are great seats too, fourth row center in the first mez. These will probably have terrific sound but I could not pass up being right down in THE FRONT ROW! As if I weren't AMPED enough over this show!

I do not see any other seats being offered in the Pit right now but I would keep your eyes peeled!

I think those tickets are actually for the pit, which is general admission. So you can be in the front row if you get there early!

Also, according to Spin, the show will be streamed live from their website and ZYNC facebook page....
The July 30 gig -- part of SPIN's 25th anniversary celebration, presented by ZYNC from American Express -- is set for New York City's Radio Music Hall, and will be simulcast live, with a nine-camera shoot, over the web via SPIN.com. Click here for webcast details. This will be the only U.S. show.

Just as FYI to folks who might be in NYC for the weekend, Sonic Youth is playing a free show over at Prospect Park in Brooklyn the following Saturday night.

Might be worth checking out and hey - it's free!
