The Sweeney

I was really impressed with this film. Ray Winstone was excellent, tho I'm not sure why Plan B was cast? He was ok, if nothing special. It was fast paced and had an interesting story which featured some great car chases and shoot-outs. When you just want a film that's all action, this did the business.

Have you ever seen the original 1970s TV series (which I think was called 'The Sweeney'), or the film (which was called 'Sweeney!') with Dennis Waterman and John Thaw?

Quite impressive - gritty, seedily realistic (it was criticised at the time for being graphically violent), but now seeming quite slow. I remember watching an episode with a commentary track which observed that there was so much 'product placement' for GPO Telephones, you half expected Buzzby the Bird to make a cameo appearance.

I haven't seen the new film. I wonder if anyone else has.
