the Tate currently holds the only ever solo exhibition of Blake's work. i'm hoping to go next week!

report- very very disapointing. barely any pictures, there were blank spaces that said 'this painting should be this but it is lost'. the descriptions made them sound like paintings one would love to see including a 4 m lifesize picture of arthur and some of those knights. the ones that were there were painted very darkly and were hard to make out although one of my favorite blake paintings was there

georgous!

there was the single review from the show at the time, it was held in his brothers attic and hardly anyone went, that completely tore him to peices and caused him to become reclusive and bitter. it was very harsh, in my opinion.

there were other paintings in the gallery that blew me away, one just for the texture and colour! dimly lit room, spolight on this painting, wow! will provide links for other paintings tomorrow- just got hime after 14 hours on my feet!

Van Gogh (ta MM for finding me the name of this).

More than once I have stood in front of this picture at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam completely transfixed. The lantern in the middle is incredible.

Tate Liverpool has a pretty good exhibit right now on color art. and the lower 2 floors had some really nice works:
Francis Bacon, Dali, those kooks Gilbert & George, Jeff Koons 3 basketball in a fishtank(at least no animals), easily worth the 3 quid donation. We refrained from paying the extra 8 to see the top floor exhibit.
Nothing to go out of your way for but if you are in Liverpool and near the Docks worth checking out. And you may just see a crane crash into a building like I did. Actually saw it happen. is that art?
