Re: Art...
Is this your own, Mark?
It instantly reminded me of a building in Norway I think...I'll see if i can find a picture/link...ahh it's the Oslo opera house, designed in conjunction with skateboarders.

You should never feel embarrassed solarflarez. I have been put into corners and trampled upon
a few times myself.
Keep making art and put it up here. Honesty about ones art makes it 90% of the time stronger.

If you have a mac, I find the easiest thing to do is download and use the Image Shackle widget: http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboar ... ackle.html

Well done Solarflarez. Have a few friends who are artists and I know how difficult it can be to get an exhibition set up. In fact, I'm off to a private view tonight of a friend of a friend. Keep hammering away mate.

thank you people for the positive comments, i appreciate them all, so thank you. Mod, I know the work pictured is a bit unoriginal and uninspiring, but because of the restrictions of showing at my local library (no nudity, nothing offensive etc), I couldn't really show what I regard as my best stuff, but im not grumbling and yes you are right, I need to start experimenting with paint anyway,
thanks all again, Eric

Re: Art...
Congratulations Solar,
I was fortunate enought to get my work exhibited a few times and whilst it didn't really "pay" off it ticked a box.
My favourite piece so far (that you've displayed on here) is the collage. It harks back to Rauschenburg and as a medium deals with the torrent of imagery that people have to deal with.
I'd love to see an updated one referencing the last 10years or so.
I'll try look out my own bits n bobs when I get a chance; I used a mixed palette of collage and hand written text on some. I was also very "into" life drawing but drew the body from the skeletal/muscular form out to the flesh. The majority of it was made art (either from found objects) or what people concieve now as installation art. I used computer manipulated images, recorded sound and video as well as point & shoot pictures relating to my own poetry/words.
Yes, I'll look them out...If anything it'l be a wander through a past.
Best and keep on pushing
Best
Stuart

Pripyat was the town created to house the workers who built/then maintained the Chornobyl Nuclear Plant.
Now it is estimated that ~60 people still reside there but a couple of days after the "accident" some 30,000 people were evacuated.
I'm trying at present to put together some music that echoes and evokes this image.

Stuart, check out the following links and the subsequent links within. I find this abandoned cities/buildings things really quite wonderful and intriguing. Spent months finding different places online that people had captured on camera. There is a few really creepy ones of an abandoned theme park (in Japan i think) and some of eastern european kid's swing parks that have been left to go wild... I particularly like the abandoned hospitals and asylums... think its probably the horrors that have been absorbed into the walls of these places... its almost like the walls and structures themselves still project them out for the viewer's eye.

Re: Art...
Love the stencils. The thing to look out for it covering over other peoples' work. It can be dangerous...especially if you're covering up gang work. I studied graffiti for a while at a university and covering other people's work with question marks can be life threatening. Although I love the concept and execution, you need to be careful!

thanks a lot for the links... I've always found abandoned/decrepit public places tremendously evocative.. especially theme parks, or seaside towns.. something about a fibreglass model getting all peeled and faded...Laz69 wrote:Stuart, check out the following links and the subsequent links within. It was good thanks Mark, I live in a town that has a notorious reputation for being uncultured and full of philistines, but i did sell a couple of paintings and the comment book provided by the library for people to write in had a lot of really positive comments , i was shocked by this but very happy , so all in all, good!
Cheers Mark, take it easy ,
