Re: Royal Albert Hall, October 11th, 2011.
Right so Ive bought 4 general admission and they came out as 4 arena standing. Is the floor slopping in there as my lady is quite small so might not see much?

Probably will be slopping with beer, urine etc and so forth, by the end of the gig - at least she will get to take a piss without inconvenience....simonkeeping wrote:Right so Ive bought 4 general admission and they came out as 4 arena standing. Maybes it's best we wear wellies, if folks anticipate slopping....

I went for standing tickets. I felt that at RFH gig I was right out of it.
Making sure I'm right up the front for this.

Re: Royal Albert Hall, October 11th, 2011.
you should now be able to find out which seats you got in the stalls by tracking your order
http://www.seetickets.com/CustomerService
I got seats in Block G, row 6. Can't work out if this is good or neck-crickingly bad.

Yeah, I'm sure I saw the National from there and the view was great, though a bit side on for my liking. Not sure why the big clamour for seats though. I know we're all getting on a bit, but still...

Indeed. I really hope it's standing in the main floor.

It's nice to be liked,
But it's better by far to get paid.

Is this seating plan for the gig and are the blank squares already taken ?
Re: Royal Albert Hall, October 11th, 2011.
Yes, I have some.
Block: G, Row: 10, Seats: 9 - 10
What a great thing to look forward to.
At the one in 1997 I was way back and high (pun intended, but I really was) so these ones should be better.

Thanks jesus son. I was beginning to panic seeing all those seats taken. Didn't want to end up at the side of the stage or up in the gods (wanted to see god from a decent seat). Quickly realised it wasn't for the gig. Got my tickets now, more or less where i wanted to be, i can now sleep well tonight.jesus son wrote:it's an albert hall one, just thought it might help pick their seats, it's not a reflection of which seats have been sold or anythingcottonfever wrote:jesus son, where did you get the seating plan from? seetickets or albert hall ?

We'll have to do a roll-call on this at some point. See exactly who's going and arrange the obligatory pre-gig meet and greet.

Re: Royal Albert Hall, October 11th, 2011.
finally got my ticket- was sitting on the fence about whether to go but gave in and got a standing one. I don't mind not having a seat (at RFH it made me feel slightly 'detached' from the gig)
other reason I was deliberating was that my mates were being uncommital too. bugger them i'll go on my own if i have to!

Re: Royal Albert Hall, October 11th, 2011.
Finally managed to get 2 standing tickets. Jesus i fucking hate Seetickets, not even a phone number for customer services, just going round in circles clicking on links trying to get an answer to my question. Eventually got lucky by putting I.E. in as my postcode. And don't get me started on the charges....!!!!
Funny thing is i'm only going 'cos of the venue, the sense of occasion and the chance of another meet up, i don't think the gig itself will be anything special: new material, that i don't have high hopes for, plus a lot off A&E probably. Add in that it'll likely be the start of the tour and the band won't yet be in their stride....
Why did i buy those tickets again?

Incase you were wondering, there is a news post about the booking charges:
Booking fee of £2 per ticket plus a credit card handling charge of 2% on each ticket. The booking fee applies to all sales except for personal callers at the Box Office and the 2% applies to all credit card sales.
Re: Royal Albert Hall, October 11th, 2011.
May be worth reopening the Ticket Zone thread, if people aren't sure what they've bought or wish to change their minds?
That said, I've got mine, and am happy with Standing - Mrs sm-iom not so sure, although I have explained that the atmosphere there should be better than seated at RFH.

Scored! One standing ticket, I've got mates coming from Edinburgh and Liverpool for this, I just hope they got their tickets.
I booked with Stargreen and sailed thru no problem, no ridiculous booking fee either, I had the page for See open as well and I'd finished booking with Stargreen before the See page even loaded.

Got me a standing ticket
SEE and Stargreen are sold out of standing tickets, got mine direct from RAH.
They still have standing tickets left on the RAH site, and some really good stalls tickets too.
Good luck.

Re: Royal Albert Hall, October 11th, 2011.
Just checked the dates. The original Albert Hall gig was the 10th October 1998. This one's on the 11th. The Roundhouse gig was the 16th. The last Spz gig I attended was the Oxford Academy on 12th in 2008.
It looks like if you're a fan of the band and live in the South East UK, keep the second week of October free in your diary - there's bound to be a gig!!
Bought a standing ticket from the Albert Hall site this morning - now the waiting begins ....

Never been to the RAH before so this should be a fitting first gig for the venue. (I'm short, and standing - might take the yellow pages)

3rd time for me.bisonheed wrote:Never been to the RAH before so this should be a fitting first gig for the venue. (I'm short, and standing - might take the yellow pages)
First went in about 88 to see Siouxsie and the Banshees, I had seen Jim Foetus the night before and spent most of the night with my fingers in my ears because my hearing was fucked.
Second time was for the House of Love a couple of years later which would have been a completely forgettable night if it wasn't for Mercury Rev supporting and Dave Baker scaring the shit out of people with his extra long mic cord.
Re: Royal Albert Hall, October 11th, 2011.
It would be nice with a dvd from this show! Do you think there is any chance for that?
Re: Royal Albert Hall, October 11th, 2011.
Heh heh - I was at that HoL/Mercury Rev gig - they gave away a free purple vinyl 10" or 12" at that show as I vaguely recall...nickh wrote:3rd time for me.bisonheed wrote:Never been to the RAH before so this should be a fitting first gig for the venue. Hey maybe all those standing could sit down like we were at a Spacemen 3 gig? ....and light up a few doobies?

Re: Royal Albert Hall, October 11th, 2011.
Here's a pretty accurate photo of what the view is like (although I don't imagine that the people in the background seats will be standing up at Spz). The stage isn't that high, but the view is usually ok (it's not a huge venue):bisonheed wrote:Never been to the RAH before so this should be a fitting first gig for the venue. Re: Royal Albert Hall, October 11th, 2011.
I *believe* that the blank squares are the privately owned seats. They sold these (for £100 each for 999 years!) when they built the RAH, to help fund the building. So those tickets don't go on general sale.cottonfever wrote:Is this seating plan for the gig and are the blank squares already taken ?
However, many of the private seats are resold by the box office if the owners don't want to use them. This is often quite late in the day, a week or two before the gig, so can be a great source of some of the best tickets late in the day, without paying a premium. Enjoy this gig, it'll be a treat. I've been there three times in the last week for the Teenage Cancer Trust gigs - always a special experience!
Re: Royal Albert Hall, October 11th, 2011.
That is correct. I went to see Nick Cave there a good few years ago (with Tim Rose supporting - blew my fucking mind) and I was with some mates, one of whom was in a wheelchair, when we got to the disabled area it was set up behind a speaker stack and you couldn't see a thing so we went back to the front of house and moaned like crazy - the upshot of which was that a very nice bloke let us in to one of the private boxes and we had drinks bought to us, and as we were going both nights he told us to go back and see him and he sent us straight up to the same box again - it was well cushy!!! Those were two nights my mate didn't mind being in his chair.AlecSp wrote:I *believe* that the blank squares are the privately owned seats. SOooooo, has anyone solidified plans for the October shows?
I'm thinking about doing all three in October, but don't know anyone else who is. Most likely training it in between the three shows. It would be fun if other Spz fans made the journey(s) with me!

I'll be going to the Leamington show as it's on my doorstep, then next day down to London on the train for RAH (will prob stop in a hotel somewhere, still need to sort that)

I'm going to Edinburgh and Albert Hall... I dunno whether to go to Leamington Spa... I wanna go but I'm really skint... maybe it's time to start flogging stuff... this is Spiritualized after all...
Only five weeks to go and it all kicks off... I'm stupidly excited! I wonder if we will hear any new tunes...

I know! I'm really excited too...even though it's been dead on the forums.
I'll be going to all three. We need to start scheduling the meetups again. Anyone who knows each area care to suggest watering holes?

Pass. I'm not familiar with the surrounding area of the RAH, but I'd bet there's a really expensive pub not too far away. I remember going into a pub that had a bookcase for a toilet door but I think that was near to the US Embassy which is probably just that bit too far away.toomilk wrote: Anyone who knows each area care to suggest watering holes?
ps.... I've booked a £1.50 (virgin) train ticket back from London to Birmingham.
What more can the heart of a man desire?

The closest pub is the Queens Arms at:Shaun wrote:Pass. I'm not familiar with the surrounding area of the RAH, but I'd bet there's a really expensive pub not too far away. 30 Queens Gate Mews,
South Kensington,
London,
SW7 5QL
It doesn’t look more than a five minute walk to the RAH and a 10 minute (tops) walk from Gloucester Road Tube Station. Website here: http://www.thequeensarmskensington.co.uk/
Seems like a decent enough place although being in a pretty swish part of town don't expect much change out of £4.00 for a pint

In fact, don't expect any change at all.

Queens Arms it is. Anyone else OK with this?
How about Leamington? Edinburgh? C'mon, this is two and half weeks away!
