Urban Lounge SLC 4/5/2013
Just got back from the show. Tiny venue, sold out show. Doors were at 9:30 and spz went on around 11. Too late for my old ass.
I thought it was an amazing show. The "Spiritualized American Mainline" band is great, especially the bassist. Wow, he was good. Same song list from Brooklyn, but they actually played WWJ and it was probably my favorite performance of it. Really subdued, no driving pop drums. Sounded the closest to the Perfect Prescription version they'll probably done in most recent years.
Three "new" songs. "A Song" was great, had a little reworking and a new part.
Overall, the new members were great and the whole band was relaxed and having a good time. Lots of banter between the new members and lots of smiles, especially on Jason's face. Great stuff.
Funny city, this SLC. Bloody, shirtless white kids yelling in the street on my walk back from the show. I've also never seen so many 'chat-n-cut's in one day. Shame on you, SLC!
I posted some pictures on Instagram. I'll be going to the next 5 shows, so follow me if you want to see my travels. My name on there is UmaTheremin. I think you can access it from a normal PC. Instagram.com/UmaTheremin or something. I'm fucking tired.

Looking forward to Tuesday's show. The Portland venue (Wonder Ballroom) is small too, but maybe not as small as this SLC place. The Wonder holds about 800. Have to say, last May's Spz gig was probably the most packed I have ever seen the Wonder. It was really tight in there and probably more than 800 were allowed in. Still, it beats the much larger spots I've seen them play in England.

“You're not Dostoevsky,' said the citizeness
'Well, who knows, who knows,' he replied.
'Dostoevsky's dead,' said the citizeness, but somehow not very confidently.
'I protest!' Behemoth exclaimed hotly. 'Dostoevsky is immortal!”

Here's the amazing ending part from Let it Flow at this show: http://youtu.be/Pd_KSy3fP7g
Incredible how small this venue was.
