Followed by Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, on 18th July (presumably the day they land from the US). Hmm... I know what I feel like after an eastbound transatlantic flight...
Re: The Flaming Lips & Spiritualized - July 15/16
Anyone know more about the Connecticut show? No info at the venue's site...
Thanks
Thanks

Re: The Flaming Lips & Spiritualized - July 15/16
Anyone make it to these shows?
Here's a funny review:
"But the British quintet, which hadn't played Pittsburgh in over a decade, heats up into rhythmic powerhouse, thanks in part to drummer Kevin Bales, after starting many of the songs as drones."
OUCH. Awful writing too.

Re: The Flaming Lips & Spiritualized - July 15/16
toomilk, I made it to the Wallingford, Connecticut gig. Thread below.
...nice last line by Mr. Coyne, though.
But yeah, "the spiritualized front man didn't even stand up". the guy behind me took note of this as well. He was there for the Lips and had not seen spz before. He leaned over to his buddy and said, "so I guess that guy is just content to sit there and not say anything, huh? Hmmph!"
Which just now reminded me of '95 gig when for whatever reason Jason felt moved to take a rest and just lay down on the floor for awhile, still playing.
He can do whatever and anything he needs to do, I say. Just hope he keeps doing it for a long, long time.

Re: The Flaming Lips & Spiritualized - July 15/16
Therein lies the quality of The Flaming Lips these days. Forget about the quality of the music and focus instead on a bunch of idiots larking about in various costumes. Mind you I may be wrong - bar the odd YouTube clip I haven't seen the Lips live since 1996.ro wrote:But yeah, "the spiritualized front man didn't even stand up". the guy behind me took note of this as well. Sorry for going over old ground here
