Guessing the LPF wouldn't allow the headliner to play Manchester/Leeds. It's a shame, cause I can't go to the psych fest probably.

Come up to the Glasgow show... i have a hunch that the show is also over Sept weekend, meaning Monday is a bank holiday... you can all sleep on my floor.... i'll let the missus know! :D

Cannot wait to see Goat at Liverpool Psych Fest. I was lucky enough to get one of the initial batch of the Live Ballroom Ritual vinyls. and if that and their set from Glasto from an armchair perspective are anything to go by this will be immense.

Runcible - are you based in Leeds? Surely Newcastle isn't too far? Being based in Carlisle we tend to have to travel 1-2 hours to Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester or Liverpool to see anything, so I guess travelling to anything for us is standard.

I was very privileged to see Goat at ATP before Xmas. Granted their set was augmented by an ex-member of The Heads on insane wah-wah guitar, but the whole show was fantastic. The atmosphere in the room changed noticeably as soon as they began playing. I was standing by the mixing desk watching the goings on..... The two lead vocalists (shouters??) are hilarious. Suffice to say it was one of the better shows I have seen in yonks (although I enjoyed Kandodo more at ATP). Hopefully Goat will not suffer from the poor/thin sound that lots of the bands in the main room at the Psyche Fest get.

I'm too old to whizz up there and back in an evening, plus Monday nights are school nights so that kind of scuppers it. If they were playing in Leeds I'd go though.

Liverpool and Newcastle are definitely The North in my book!

agree with Olan about the set we saw at ATP. it was brilliant musically and also just a great feelgood, uplifting show. in stark contrast to a lot of ATP stuff which can be more abstract or moody.

Just announced for the Body and Soul festival, which is half an hour from my house. First Irish appearance.

Despite my reservations about the band and not been impressed at LPF I am excited by this :? I certainly believe that they will be the act everyone is talking about after the weekend.

UK Tour in April 2023. Tickets on sale Friday Nov.4th.

April 15 / Bristol / SWX
April 16 / Birmingham / The Mill
April 17 / Leeds / Brudenell Social Club
April 18 / Glasgow / Garage
April 19 / Newcastle / Boiler Shop
April 20 / Manchester / Gorilla
April 21 / Brighton / Chalk
April 22 / London / Brixton Electric

Runcible will be pleased to see they're playing the Brudenell.

Would i be right in thinking these are relatively small venues?

There you go then. Maybe i wildly over estimate Goat's popularity but i thought they'd be playing venues twice that size. Certainly minimum 1000 capacity.

Think The Mill in Birmingham may be closer to 1000 but I think they may struggle for that seeing as gigs can be very hit and miss in that city! I am also not sure exactly how popular Goat are

Maybe a few years ago but my interest kind of faded I’m afraid.

Currently no gigs at all on my calendar. :( Considering Brian Jonestown Massacre at Leeds Stylus next year but if that venue is sold out you can see absolutely nothing. So it’s just a maybe.

I think you’re over estimating for sure, last time they were here they played the sadly missed and now a pile of ashes ABC, 1,200 cap. they had a good turn out maybe 800 but certainly not sold out. I think I‘ll be going but I’ll need to go solo as I doubt I could drum up a companion even with a free ticket an transport, very much a marmite’y type of band

Boilershop is a strange choice. Does have the option for a reduced capacity - saw Death in Vegas there and they basically scaffolded and curtained off everything behind the sound desk to make it more 'intimate' bit have seen the likes of Stereolab and Primal Scream there with the entire floor opened up and it holds thousands.

Brilliant venue (and glad they're not playing the polytechnic like last time) but they'll do well to fill it out even in its condensed version.

Upgraded to the Queen Margret Union now, 900 cap., not overjoyed at this turn of events tbh as it’s not the easiest to get to
