festival warm up rather than part of a wider UK tour I assume?

Yeah looks like it. Whatever - no other sound system I know of in the UK would handle then better.

Psyche Fest is on 25th and 26th. This tells us that Jason and Co are playing on 26th. I wonder if The Heads are the 'headline' (sorry about that) on the first night. Sadly, I can't make the Brudenell date.

Think about booking your hotel now. Rugby World Cup matches the following 2 days. So could be busier than usual.

If i wasn't going to the psych fest i'd be all over this.

never been to the Brudenell before- as an aside I was watching some Viet Cong live footage the other day and the drummer was wearing one of their T shirts!

I'm there. Apparently tickets are selling fast. Thanks for the heads-up on hotels and rugby. Won't they also do a Glasto warm-up?

Last time it was at the Concord 2 in Brighton. Great gig, iffy venue, noisy chatty crowd.

Thanks to Jake Cardigan for making us aware of this, not a peep from the "official" SPZ sources...is there any news on the new website, or was this just the change of URL?

Must admit that even though I will see them the next night at the Psych fest, I'm a bit disappointed to be missing this gig..

At least you're getting to see them! I couldn't go to Holmfirth and couldn't do this either, even if there were tickets left :(

Should be a nice gig - the Brudenell has a really good reputation for sound. I see from SSE's site they've now upgraded FOH to a Midas Pro2, which despite having a frustratingly convoluted workflow, is the nicest sounding desk this side of six figures!

I've emailed Brudenell to ask about getting in on the night or finding out if there's been any returns, but so far I've heard nothing back from them.

Get to the gig fairly early and enjoy the range of beer in the bar area which is a different room to where the gig is. Nice vibe in there.

Who is coming along? I know of you Simon, Mark Modlab, Bza, Alan spzretent, Rameses, BVCP206, me... Who else? You coming James?

It's only 4 days away now - quite exciting!

90 mins set definitely means more songs added then- compared to earlier in the year where sets were around the 1 hr mark? this could be good news.

The crew at my joint for LPF are all cut up about whether to go to The Heads or Spz tomorrow night. Hopefully we'll be able to exit The Heads and get into Spz, but I doubt it :( . I hope everyone has a great time tonight and that the band kick arse.

Personally I was a little underwhelmed by the gig, perhaps I'd set my expectations too high. The band seemed to be on top form but I don't think it was loud enough. The first part of the set was amazing, but Oh Baby seemed to kill the atmosphere (and encourage people to go to the bar) and it didn't get going again until near the end of the set.

Some of the crowd near where I was stood were annoying as well, either talking constantly or being aggressive.

On the upside though it was good to met some more Outpatients and put faces (and names) to names.

I have to say I loved it.

Walkin' With Jesus was close to the best I have ever heard it, as was Take Your Time. Utterly magnificent. The lull lasted 2 songs as generally speaking it was a very noisy set indeed. Possibly not loud enough...

Great to see lots of familiar faces from this place. And fantastic to speak to Jason for what seemed like ages after. He was amazingly chatty with everyone.

In terms of gig experiences that was a truly exceptional night. Also a rare moment for all 5 mods to be in the same place at the same time.

And quite an experience for my 17 year old daughter - her first Spiritualized show - as Jason was really nice to her. He signed that set list to her...

A fucking triumph all round as far as I am concerned...

jealous guy. those final 3 songs... FINALLY.
Is Cheapster being back new too? Always loved that one (& you lie you cheat fwiw).
In fact everything after oh baby rocks. That's an awesome run in the final 3rd of the gig.

Can imagine it was a great night. Fuck! I need a good old spz gig. I'd have loved this one..

When I booked a flight over for this gig I could never have imagined what an amazing experience this would turn out to be. Seeing the.band for the first one ever in the UK will all of my friends from Leeds, Scotland etc and seeing the best Spiritualized gig I have seen in 20 years was worth every penny and more. Highlights? The light show for starters. Walking With Jesus, Take Me To The Other Side, The Road(Let's Go), Take Good Care Of It and Shine A Light to name a few. Nice to meet some board members and The Brudenell was amazing.
A night I will never forget. Ever!

An absolutely amazing night which will live long in the memory, band was on top form the sound was excellent and Jason was the perfect gentleman afterwards. Added bonus was the number of friends and board members who were there don't think that will happen again for a very long time if at all :!:

A little footnote the Saturday after in Leeds was another brilliant day but that's a different story, you know who you are
