I had never seen Nick Cave before. He really never toured that much so I took a friend up on an extra ticket tonight. Jesus! What a performer. Also what a band the Bad Seeds are. This was very much the brother concert to the PJ Harvey show I saw a few months ago. Incredible back up band who just played magnificently in their sartorial splendor while letting Nick Cave be the showman he is. It was fantastic.
It did get off to a bit of a slow start but it picked up in intensity. The noisy tracks were breathtaking. The setlist also spanned his entire career. Great crowd for the most part too.
In a twist of irony I was wearing a white Keep Smiling ringer t shirt in a sea of black. That kept me laughing most of the night.
Just a brilliant night out.

Glad to hear it was a good night, I'll be seeing him in Glasgow in a few months.
Have seen him many times before (solo, with the bad seeds and with grinderman), and he's always reliably brilliant. One of the most consistent and fantastic artists to have worked over the past 30 years or so.

Agree with all that has been said in the two previous posts about Nick Cave. Have also been to see him with The Bad Seeds and Grinderman over the years, going back to the early 90s.
Unfortunately the 2017 tour in the UK includes The 02 in London, which I refuse to entertain thinking about. Bournemouth and Manchester which are the days after LPF and Glasgow is just too long a trip. I hope these shows aren't a precedence for future tours in the large venues.
Biggest regret is not seeing Nick Cave with The Birthday Party, back in the day.
Release the bats !

I'm had exactly the same thought! The O2 isn;t a place to watch music. I saw them play at Hammersmith and they were phenomenal. Same result when they played as Grinderman (much more unhinged though). Great band and Nick's stage presence is something else. The guy was born to perform.BROKENHEART wrote:Unfortunately the 2017 tour in the UK includes The 02 in London, which I refuse to entertain thinking about. Wow, so I saw his San Diego show on Monday night and it was absolutely stunning. Best I've ever seen him (out of 5), hands down. His voice was unbelievably strong. Lots of screech/screams a la Birthday Party and one 10-second bit of throat singing during "From Her to Eternity" that sent shivers down my spine.
I second the comment about the noisy tracks. Dare I say that it rivaled the best of Spiritualized's??????!!!!!
Must-see, especially on this tour. You won't regret it.
