Some bootlegs for you all

Post by mywhitenoise »

Hey everyone,

I've recorded some shows over the years. They're not the best quality (usually recorded with a TASCAM DR-05 near the front of the stage by Jason), but hopefully someone on here can clean them up and make them sound more presentable.

Incredible. I've never seen these posted before, but I was at each one of these shows! That Austin Psych Fest ("Levitation") gig was the absolute worst Spiritualized show I've ever seen. I think purespace was there as well and agrees...

Curious as to why the Austin gig was bad..?

I didn't feel the Austin Psych Fest gig either, the setlist wasn't that fun and I'm just not too big on festivals (much prefer the small intimate venues Jason and the tour management select). On the plus side, I ran into Bobby Gillespie on the street during that festival, mentioned how much of an influence Primal Screams albums were to me, and then he asked me if he could have lunch with me! I couldn't believe it, one of the highlights of my life. I hung out with Bobby for the afternoon, went shopping with him lol, and then I got him an Uber back to his hotel before the show. Still can't believe that happened.

Anyway, I'm going to add my bootleg of the Orpheum show, just to add another source. Could probably sound good with some EQ adjustments if anyone's familiar with doing that.

Just a really boring setlist. Lots of technical difficulties. Jason didn't seem into it and neither were the other band members. The crowd wasn't having it. Lots of younger teenagers just waiting for Panda Bear (I think) who were bored out of their minds. I can't blame them - I was really bored too!

I watched that psych fest show with a friend who had really been looking forward to their set. I'll never forget how mad he was after.

anyway, I created some .cue files for the masonic and psych fest recordings. I figured I'd share.

APF 2015 was definitely the worst Spiritualized show (out of 20+) I've seen in terms of performance and set list. Technical guitar problems before they started and continued through the first few songs. They played in broad daylight and selected a ballad heavy set list which killed the energy (APF had clearly gotten too big for us that year [several 100 people the first time vs 10,000 in 2015] and it was our last time attending). First and only time I left a Spiritualized show early. A massively missed opportunity considering the fest lineup and what could have been. Most of the crowd were waiting for Tame Impala to take the stage.

The show in Detroit on September 16, 2022 restored my faith 1,000%
I think I feel it coming on
