Bath 28.04.22 Micro Review

Post by jesus son »

Random thoughts...

On stage about 8:45, finished at about 10:45!

I don't have a set list but seemed to be very focussed on the last two albums as you might expect, Shine A Light and Come Together bring the only real "oldies" I recall. I was hoping the recent reissues might have led to a bit of a deep dive into the catalogue, but the focus seems to be more on the recent(ish) ballads.

Having said that, the "rockers" that were played sounded brilliant, with The Mainline Song probably the highpoint of the set for me.

Band are on fine form. No strings or brass last night, but perhaps these will be added at the larger venues? Jason sang really well.

Nice lighting, but nothing incredible, don't think there was any background film or opticals, but 8/10 for the strobes.

Merch was a bit disappointing, nothing tour exclusive as far as I could see. If anyone still wants/needs one LAGWAFIS on blue vinyl was being sold, didn't see the prices.

Really nice venue, great audience.

Looking forward to seeing another 3 or 4 dates on this tour. Hopefully they might mix the set list up a bit later on.

Thanks for this. I was very tempted to head down from Rugby myself last night but decided to be patient, as I'll be seeing them in Brighton on Saturday and then at Nottingham. Which other dates are you going to?

I spotted the set list went up on setlist.fm late yesterday evening https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/spiritua ... 64928.html

Seems the same set as has been featured in the US shows. Very excited for tomorrow! My wife seems to think that all I/we ever do is go to Spiritualized gigs, but I did have to point out that this will be only the 3rd time we'll have seen them in 10 years! (Previous 2 dates were Holmfirth in 2013 and Apollo in 2018). If the tickets had been around £25 I'd have probably gone to Birmingham and The Roundhouse too. (I might go to the Roundhouse anyway...)

Seems unusual that they wouldn't have a larger band in place for the bigger shows, but at the same time I think keeping touring parties smaller at the current moment helps to limit potential covid impact. - Looking forward to Glasgow and Manchester - it's been too long!

No Mainline Song at Bath last night. Did you mean The A Song ? That was played. Got a pic of setlist after the gig .... no mention of it on there. ( Can't work out how to upload pic on this thread ☺ )
I was really hoping for it to be played also , as last night was my gf's first time - and Mainline Song appears to ne a favourite

The last time I saw them in Glasgow they had pretty much the full set of merch on the official site and were selling some items very cheap - £1 for the ANH cd. Maybe the new merch has sold out a lot faster this time round?

Haha - you are right, it was A Song! ☺ Wishful thinking, old age, excitement of my first gig in 28 months, lack of sleep and playing the album on the drive back meant my mind had clearly played tricks on my me.

Next stop Birmingham. Like to see some variety in the set list but if not hey ho.

According to the bloke on the door there was a support. Andy someone, I think. Not a name I recognised to be honest, but that doesn't mean anything.

We'd only been living and liking the song for 7 days ( if you've managed to be strong and avoid the streams etc ) but it was dearly missed from the setlist on Thursday !! :D
