Detroit 9/16/2022

Post by nghst »

I've got my ticket, but I'm confused what it means for audience members to have a health check. I've been vaccinated and I'll bring a mask. Is there anything else I need to do?

Where did you read that? As far as I know, there are no COVID protocols at St. Andrews right now except for the clear bag policy. We will be there in the balcony.

For sure, five of us coming down staying at the Renaissance Center, should be checked in by 4pm. Let me know when and where and we'll see you then. It's been a minute!

Sounds great. Doors at 7pm. I don't think there's an opener so are they on at 8pm then?

We may be good with 7:00 p.m. Looks like shows this week and last are consistently starting 1 hour and 40 minutes after the doors open.

Now that's what I am talking about.
A full on garage rock noise fest!
It took half of Hey Jane for the sound guy to get it right and from then on it was blast off.
Highlights: Let It Bleed, The "A" Song and So Long You Pretty Thing.
It really says something that She Kissed Me into Shine A Light isn't even mentioned as a highlight as SAL is my favorite song ever and Doggen threw in a few country tinged notes during it.
It certainly made up for the 2019 Royal Oak Theater show here which thhat sound guy killed the entire night.
Great to see so many familiar faces and Spiritualized ltd Highest Show On Earth shirts.
A gigantic smile on my face this morning.

Could not agree more Alan! Out of the 20+ times I've seen them live, this ranks in the top 3 no doubt. One of the most powerful and dynamic bands J has pulled together, just brilliant start to finish. We were in the balcony front and center where some of the high end was lost, but a stroll to the main floor is where it all came together. The bass player just propelled the whole affair even higher. And the light show was mind blowing. Security had to save someone down front during the 2nd song due to the light projections on the band, very intense! Our group decided on fungi for the evening and oh my lord, the roof came off during She Kissed Me and we never came down. The A Song was just massive and gave me my strobe fix. 10/10 evening for us and we left completely satisfied and grinning like mad :D

My recollection is that 10 songs were from ANH and EWB while the other 5 were from earlier lps. I loved all of it, happily singing along from time to time. Highlights were Hey Jane, Shine a Light and Laid in your Arms. Damaged hit me in a totally unexpected way. I would love to get a download of this. I'm sorry I missed the meetup. Definitely will do next time.

Likewise.
I am certain that it being at St. Andrews Hall helped a lot.
Best venue in Detroit. Best sound as well.
It was great to see you John.
