Highest Concert(s) in the World.......???

Post by good dope/good fun »

No......you chemical heads.........
Not the most acid you've eaten during a concert.........

The CN Tower and the World Trade Center performances........

How the hell were these pulled off.......???
I just got in the mail yesterday a SBD copy of the CN Tower performance.
All I gotta say is that it just wasn't the altitiude that was high at these gigs....
The CN Tower show is absolutely ridiculous.........
Jason's guitar on Shine a Light is like nothing I've ever heard before.....
And I've heard my fair share of this song.
But the guitar work on here is like nothing else.....
Words literally cannot describe the transcendant noise that perpetuates....
(and I always thought nothing could top the Lazer Guided version).

But anyway.........
How did he get away with these 2 gigs........???
What kind of booking agent did he have to get him these shows......???
(awesome concept by the way)........
And ultimately............
was anyone in attendance during these shows..........???

I can't imagine many people were in attendence on the rooftops of some of the tallest buildings in N. America & Canada.......

I would love to hear the CN show if it is as amazing as you say it sounds. I would be happy to send you some blank CDs and some money for shipping, if you e-mail me at kinsellasp@hotmail.com. Or we could trade for some live shows. Please let me know!

I was at the WTC show. :D It was cloudy so the view was...nil - lots of white clouds! When I got there, all the biz-type people that were there to eat or have drinks were still there, then people started leaving as the Spz fans started coming in.

It was a party for Spin Magazine. Not sure how many people were in attendance, but it was crowded, stage was small, show was incredible. Music industry event, so tickets weren't sold, I don't think.

i'm pretty much relying on someone's mercy, but i'd love a copy of one of these gigs (and, also, a poster advertising them, if anyone's got one ...)

can't think of what i've to trade, but might be something (otherwise, if you're non uk and wanted singles or something hard to find, spz promos etc ...)

Are there still soundboard copies of this knocking around at all. SOunds like the quality was amazing from this. I've heard copies before but poor quality and full of people talking over the whole thing!

A few kind folks on this place have sent me a CD of the CN Tower gig, but as per the above description - the quality isn't the best, unfortunately.

Have you got a better quality recording?

(Apologies to the kind folks who have already sent me that gig over the years, obviously still much appreciated!)
I'm like Evel Knievel, I get paid for the attempt. I didn't promise this shit would be good!

Wow.
Well isn't this thread a blast from the past?
What the hell was I thinking 11 years ago?

I've been told over the years that this is not a SBD recording, but rather a very crystal audience recording.
Who knows?
What I do know is that it is quite possibly my favorite recording and it should be in everyones collection.

So I upped it via dropbox for anyone who does not already have it.
Simply click the link, unzip the files, and enjoy.

edit: This is just the CN Tower performance.

Thanks so much for sharing - listening to Shine A Light now

It's wonderful to hear Jason's guitar so loud and clear for once - he buries himself in the mix far too often these days...
