Sounds like an excellent idea but it is likely that I will be flying from Stansted so that is at least 2 hours drive from Brighton. Maybe Mr Spaceman will be kind enough to release a dvd of the show plus other pleasantries at some time over the next 12 years, am I being a little optimistic?

yeah, very. you should be more realistic, say the next 95 years. do you think J will become the new Tupac? as soon as he dies he'll release a new album every year or so? food for thought

am a bit wierded out by the idea of sitting for a spz gig though - does anyone know if the seats are allocated free-for-all style or based on how early you bought your ticket? i know i've left it quite late so am hoping i'm not right at the back..

Also, anyone know who's gonna be supporting??

Everyone used to sit at the early gigs. The circle has come full circle.

Apart from the prices.

What's the cheapest anyone can remember paying for a Spiritualized gig? (excluding in-store freebies)

it is standing unless they changed it. i spoke to the guy at the actual venue and had a conversation with him and he did not mention seating...

i meant wierded out by the thought of having a chair to sit in!

i remember sitting down for a fair portion of the hoping gig now i come to think about it...could've done with a chair there ;)

and on the topic of people sitting down in the early days, i'd absolutely love it if people decided that these acoustic gigs were the right time to bring it back in style :)

no news on support for these gigs then, i'm guessing?

i for one am looking forward to sitting down. and had planned to even before i read it was unreserved seating. spiritualized arent exactly mosh-pit standard at the best of times, and an acoustic set is only going to distance that.

or maybe im just getting war weary on pits in gigs. until as recently as a few months ago i would have laughed at the suggestion of not heading to the front, but these days i find myself enjoying the advantages of standing back. of course, when its axl and gnr involved its a different story - elbows out!

yeah, i'd love to hear that, too. also 'hold on' like it's played on the kexp radio session. i like that acoustic version better than the one on the album.

agree with you on the radio session version of hold on. I much prefer it to the album version.

disagree on Lord can you hear me. Would be happy if that wasn't in the set list...Although he'll probably play it now, and it will be blinding.

i reckon this one's a pretty likely tune, i mean the s3 versions seem practically acoustic anyway and it's a perfect tune to show off the gospel singers..

i'm really really hoping for an acoustic lay back in the sun->smiles myself :)

..but then i'm sure i'll be happy with whatever he ends up playing

Ladies & Gentlemen - but PLEASE let it be the Elvis version!
Lay Back in the Sun - I'm sure he could do something interesting with that, though I doubt you could improve on the Pure Phase version.

Just noticed in the description of the tour it says

'The dates will showcase some of the songs from the forthcoming Spiritualized album as well as tracks from the Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized catalogues and songs from other artists.'

soooooo...... which songs from other artists do people want?

i'm saying mojave 3 'she broke you so softly' or 'bluebird of happiness'..
yeaaah!

maybe a bit of syd's 'octopus' and love's 'alone again or' as a tribute??

Good call for 'Octopus' - I quite fancy a trip to heave and ho... :D

Likewise Love, 'Alone Again Or' would probably best suit the acoustic treatment (apart from Brian McCleans 'Old Man', but I can do without that), I'd love to hear how 'The Red Telephone' would translate in this setting. Disclaimer: all puns intended!

listen to that again and again and again and again and again; it's as good as anything on there. seeing arthur singing it was something else but the lp version with david angel's input's incredible.

It's not that I don't like the song, it's just not my favourite on that album. Interestingly enough Arthur Lee had said at one point that Dave Angel ruined the songs on Forever Changes with his strings and horns, and that he hated Alone Again Or after Brian McClean and Dave Angel added the orchestration. However when performing the songs recently he looked pretty happy with the near note-for-note translation of the songs for a live performance!

i think it was bryan who was against the orchestration; he was in favour of putting on a stripped down version, like you can find on the ifyoubelievein lp ...

(edited to say:) For anyone not familiar with Time Trumpet, Rape an Ape is a supposed show that was big in the year 2007.
Time Trumpet is set in 2031
