E.A.R. at the Queen Elizabeth Hall
It says on Sonic's site that E.A.R. will be playing at the Turntable Cafe as part of a tribute to the Radiophonic Workshop. I went to the Queen Elizabeth Hall once but I didn't see the Turntable Cafe and I couldn't find tickets on the website. Anyone know anything about this?
Here's what Sonic sent today:
Hi,
Here's news on an upcoming E.A.R. gig/event in London:
Turntable Cafe, Queen Elizabeth Hall, London
Sonic Boom, as E.A.R. drag out the modular synths & electronic goo-gogs
in honour of Bob Stanley esq.'s infamous and esoteric Turntable Cafe's
forthcoming tribute to the BBC's legendary Radiophonic Workshop and its
main exponents and potentates Delia Derbyshire, Daphne Oram, Brian
Hodgeson etc.
Also to be shown is the BBC '60s documentary 'The same trade as
Mozart', something probably un-seen by most since its '69 screening and an
amber-like encapsulation of the British electronic music scene of the day.
Not to be missed. Usual sources for times etc.
Best,
Sonic
ps: Don't forget the very soon-coming dates in Oxford, Bolton and
Athens. See website for details.

I like those odds.
Free entry for those who can produce a Battenburg.
If you're thinking about coming along, stop thinking and come along. It will help form the character that you are intended to be.
Do you think...if I asked him really nicely...that Sonic may do Feels Like I'm Slipping Away? It is extremely Radiophonic a mon avis.
Pete? will you?
I promise to buy you a frothy Mocha and roll you a massive skunk spliff.

Well the plan was after a riot of replies, many of which bemoaning the lack of tickets (there are two left in shit seats), I was going to come back and say "Well, it just so happens that I have a spare ticket in a good seat to this shindig". I expected no less than pandemonium henceforth. Am I over estimating the appeal of Sonic playing Spacelines, Ghost Box's Julian House and rare films and discussion on the Radiophonic Workshop?
Perhaps.
Perhaps.
This was never going to be a proper gig though was it? A tenner was never going to get us into the Queen Elizabeth Hall. I enjoyed Sonic’s set and liked the fact that it was just going on in the foyer, kind of reminded me of An Evening of Contemporary Sitar Music (which to be fair, I never went to) with people sitting around talking and coming and going from other events.
