Spring Heel Jack+ J Spaceman Spitz last night...

Post by They Transmit »

...ws really good indeed. This is the 3rd time I've seen this set up, all be it with different members. They played two sets of around 30 mins each.

It was the first set for me which was the eye opener. It was extremely reminiscent of spacemen/sptz, two chord drone chug a long with crazy free form sax over the top with a fairly basic teutonic drum pattern, sorta jazzed up version of "Things won't be the same" it was great!

Second set was more of what I had come to expect from this sorta show but was still great in parts.

All in all a good night, and really good to be in such an intimate venue with jason wandering around chatting and such.

One thing I will mention though John Coxon was really on form on guitar, producing some truly astonishing feedback parts.

Nice.

I bailed this one in the end as I'd seen 6 bands since Thursday and was a bit gigged out.
I feel like a prize chump for not going now.
Anyone tape it?

It was a top gig. I really enjoyed it. I totally agree about John Coxon. He sounded amazing. I think he earned the right to put his guitar down towards the end and have a pint! See what you mean about it being reminisent of Spacemen 3, They Transmit...

Great to see Jason on top form, too.
