Venue help needed...

Post by gottafire »

Hi I have a few shows and I'd like some help to determine what the venue was, if anyone can help that would be great. They are:

11.07.1994???
12.08.1997???

also I have a 3 song set from WYNU College radio but don't know the exact date. If someone could help that would be fantastic.

Cheers

Jesus man - give people a chance! Sometimes it takes a while for the more date-obsessed among us to respond. I didn't even see your post until you responded to it yourself!

I hope someone tracks down those dates for you anyway...

Im sure someone can help you, but first ppl need to see your topic. Meanwhile you can use the time to try to figure it out yourself (and then inform us, once you have the informations ;) ).

Are these British or American dates?
Either way, this one would be somewhere on the east coast US or Canada

The only information I have on the WNYU show is that it was in 1996, and there is this text file:
Spiritualized
WNYU College Radio, New York
1996

Lineage: FM-Tape-WAV-FLAC Level 8
Ripped from: JVC TD-W309 Double Cassette Deck to PC with Creative Labs Audigy 2 Sound Card.
AR3 Wizard to capture audio in WAV.
No EQ, nothing touched in the sound. I leave that for you if you want to improve sound. Feel free to do the improvements you want to do with the sound of this gig.

Setlist:

Cop Shoot Cop
Shine A Light
Electric Mainline

Tape #2 received from sonic124, a friend that I met here in DIME.
This is a first generation bootleg, copied from the master of the tape, who sent the bootleg to Dave (sonic124).
Perfect sound, it is a real pleasure for my ears.
If anyone have the exact date for this session, please post it as a comment.
Download the sample before get torrent so you can listen the sound quality.
My personal favourite is Cop Shoot Cop. All the three tunes are nice.

So maybe if someone knows "dave", then we can track it down...

EDIT: Just taking a look at the gig archive, it looks like it would be around mid-August.

yeah I don't even have that text file. It came to me as MP3 at 320kbs...I'll post it for you unless someone has this in Flac format?
I have absolutely no knowledge of the other two shows. They're not on the link to the list posted earlier...are there any other list available on the net? The 1994 show is around the time of the Phoenix festival so I'm presuming it was in this country, however all it is is a presumption

sorry if I seemed impatient...

The New York show came with no date im afraid except 96! though it would be fair to assume its from the time of the Neil Young Crazy Horse supports in the US (Aug 96) as i think these were the only dates Spiritualized played The only dates from July 94 tour i know of are the Portsmouth and Worthing gigs (Joint Spiritualized and Stereolab tour pre phoenix) Sorry i couldnt be of more help

I have the FLACs and I'm uploading them. They are pretty hefty - 3 tracks in 124MB. The sound is ok.

EDIT: ...and here they are (3 tracks + txt file):

Also, are these in the British dd/mm/yyyy or the American mm/dd/yyyy? There are two possibilities with the 1997 date just by looking at that archive. Maybe if you give us some more information, like tracklists or such, we may be able to find which ones they are.

Just remembered i might have an old NME from 1994 and i found the dates in the live section:

Bristol Trinity Arts Centre 7th July
Portsmouth South Parade Pier 8th July
Worthing Pier Pavillion 9th July

The Worthing Pier bootleg does have the same tracklisting you've provided so maybe the date is just wrong by a couple of days.
PS. Worthing is on the South Coast of England.

Here is the text file for the Worthing show that I have dated July 9, 1994:
Spiritualized
Pavillion Theatre, Worthing, UK
09-Jul-1994

Lineage: AUD1-Tape-WAV-FLAC Level 8
Ripped from: JVC TD-W309 Double Cassette Deck to PC with Creative Labs Audigy 2 Sound Card.
AR3 Wizard to capture audio in WAV. Wavepad to split tracks and removes beginnings and ends of the tape.
No EQ, nothing touched in the sound. I leave that for you if you want to improve sound. Feel free to do the improvements you want to do with the sound of this gig.

Setlist:
Intro (Pure Phase)
Take Good Care Of It
Medication
Walkin' With Jesus
Let If Flow
Slide Song
Electric Mainline
Take Your Time
Sway
I Want You
These Blues

Tape #6 (last one) received from sonic124, a friend that I met here in DIME.
First generation tape. This one is a copy of the master received by Dave (sonic124) from the taper of the show.
Very good sound quality. Excellent performance, also.
Download the sample before get torrent so you can listen the sound quality.
My personal favourite is Slide Song, but all this bootleg really deserves a download!

Well, they were definitely in North America at the time....played Toronto 2 days prior to August 12th. I also know that they played a show opening for Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Could have been the HORDE tour (?).

Wasn't it a rather long set to be a support slot? Either way I still can't find any info on this

I was trying to organize my bootleg folders a bit and ran into the same problem. I went ahead searching and found this:
http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/spiritual ... c06a9.html

Anybody can submit an entry at that website, but I also found this:
http://citygig.co.uk/event/detail/963990

Perhaps the person submitted the setlist.fm entry had seen it and put that up, I don't know. That citygig page does mention SPZ on the title of the other (or another) appearance with Neil Young and the Crazy Horse in Ohio:
http://citygig.co.uk/event/detail/963993

That means those three songs could be from the other NY show on the day before the Saratoga gig, just not mentioning SPZ support:
http://citygig.co.uk/event/detail/963991

HORDE festival lineup from 96 does not mention SPZ either:
http://www.bluestraveler.net/projects/h ... index.html

Far from conclusive I've just put 1996-08-00 and made my peace with it. Been listening to the songs while doing the search and they sound very nice indeed.
