Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
Anyone going to this? Im quite up for it. I take it its another show like Leamington?
Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
Probably unlikely. It comes too soon before a planned trip to Poland.
What more can the heart of a man desire?

Hey Jig, heading anywhere in particular? I'm in Lodz this week and will be back for most of the next month or so...The Jig wrote:Probably unlikely. It comes too soon before a planned trip to Poland.

Laz, south of Lodz . Going to Krakow for a few nights last weekend of July. Lodz is only a few hours away by train...

Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
I'll be there! The Warlocks are playing the night after this gig too. I'm going to have to earn some going out credits with my other half!
Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
the tickets arrived this morning, kinda the antithesis of SeeTickets!
Warlocks are also playing Birmingham on the Sunday, haven't been to either Monochrome or the Rainbow Rooms, anyone have any experience of either?

Nice one Sunny! See you there. Im staying in Nottingham so I can enjoy the night without the thought of getting back on the M1 and holding my eyes open with matchsticks. should be a belter!
Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
I think my flat mate will be driving us back...so matchsticks for her I suppose. Come and say hello, I'll be down the front no doubt (at the moment I have shorter hair than my myspace pics).simonkeeping wrote:Nice one Sunny! See you there. Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
Nice one, maybe see you both tomorrow! What with the nice weather and one or two other things this gigs crept up on me.
Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
In brief, random thoughts
absoluetly mind blowing, just when you think you've seen it all they go up another gear!
ultra intimate venue , heaving
new bass player
amazing "think I'm in love" extended for about 10 minutes
Surreal umbrella sighting mid set
one of the best I've seen them
loud, very loud

Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
Stunned. That may be the best Spiritualized gig I've ever seen! Absolutely incredible. And loud...
Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
Me and Elspeth both shoulda been there. Unfortunately our daughter broke her arm, and as I said to my friend Mark who we were going with....I suppose looking after her DOES come before seeing Spiritualized ...again.
Hope it was a belter.

Simon, was great meeting you! Hope you made it back to your hotel safely!!!simonkeeping wrote:Nice one, maybe see you both tomorrow! What with the nice weather and one or two other things this gigs crept up on me.
I couldn't agree more. What a fantastic gig this was!!! The new bass player did extremely well for a first gig and was very loud. Still missed Sam for the slower, hypnotic songs... but yeah the new guy rocked. But where's Claudia? Hopefully she's only away temporarily. Doggen was spectacular and full on as usual. It's some of the band's home town isn't it? Jason's singing was perfect too- in fact all of it was amazing!jesus son wrote:In brief, random thoughts

Band of Skulls was a worthy support. One of the best they had. As far as gigs goes this was a prefect night out really.

set list anyone please?
Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
Amazing night. The best I've seen them play. Agree with the comments above about the new bass player. I was well impressed.

SETLIST?
Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
According to the site linked to below, Won't Get To Heaven (The State I'm In) was played - I'm assuming that they mean Life Is A Problem?

Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
thanks for the link , by the sounds of it i missed a shit hot show...........green
Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
Realy disappointed by the lack of ariation. Sure the show is great but still. come on! Run, Smile Nw, These Blues, electricity etc... are easy changes.
Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
During Think I'm In Love did the microphone pack up or did he forget the words?
Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
I think he forgot the words...there looked to be a wry smile on his face and you could see him looking for the cue from the singers (who were ace, by the way).
Think the link to the set list above is accurate apart from Won't Get To Heaven being Life Is A Problem.

Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
consider me officially jealous. sounds like a great show. i was dithering whether to go but thought it might be overkill.
new bassplayer though... wow. i wonder why no more sam? i'm sure the new guy is great and all that but there's chemistry that can only come from playing together for a long time, surely?

Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
That's interesting, I didn't think they started with Amazing Grace but after a particularly long intro of Pure Phase and then an opening spell of feedback, went straight in to You Lie You Cheat. Although this was in essence the same set as Leamington Spa and Malaga, once again it was taken to another level. The opening of I Think I'm In Love was incredibe and more ambient - reminding me of The Orb at their peak. The strobes started at Lay Back In The Sun and carried on until the amazing climax of Take Me To The Other Side. Another fantastic performance. After this I can't wait to see what they are going to do with the L & G songs at the RFH.

Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
Great to meet you too Sunny! hope the drive back was ok! Was a great night! Was the loudest Spiritualized gig Ive ever been too. I remember when I walked in to the venue thinking 'this place is tiny!'. Take me to the other side gets better every time. Because of the volume it almost took on a physical form. brutal. Great, great night!
Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
Really enjoyed this gig, forgot how good they were as a full band!

Dreamlike acoustic band from Nottingham with shades of flamenco, soul, folk and blues.

some pretty cool photos there. Jason has a new t shirt! also get a glimpse of the new bass player.
The venue looks even smaller than Leamington.

It was about 20% of the size of the Leamington gig, with about the same number of people!

Re: Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
Hello everyone. First time poster here. Couldn't believe it when it was announced they were playing the rescue rooms as it's so small. THe best venue in Notts by a mile especially when it's full as it was on Friday. Absolutely brilliant show and ridiculously loud. Was standing on the step next to the bar and only a few feet from the stage. Saw the umbrella go up near the end by some guy near the front.
Only minor gripe was that the set list was pretty similar to the autumn / winter tour last year. Not enough of my fav Let It Come Down LP.
