My new hobby

Post by Sim »

This is my first attempt at building my own pedal, using one of the Build Your Own Clone kits (I have no real clue about electronics so wouldn't be able to even think about dreaming up my own circuit).

This is a clone of the MXR Distortion+. Started with this one as it's apparently one of the easiest kits. All worked first time I plugged in, pretty pleased considering I had never soldered before embarking on this.

Seeing as it's my first one I thought I'd give the design a Spz theme; fits with the name of the pedal also.

Thanks all. To be honest I think the photo flatters it a bit, was a real pain in the arse trying to spray paint the enclosure in a garage in the UK during winter, bits of dust stuck all over it.

Trying to decide which pedal to atempt next now.

The A+E design fits the MXR pedal perfectly. Nice job!

Very nice looking enclosure! I'm sure in a few months time you'll be sourcing rare OC81D transistors and ordering custom enclosures. The folks on the D*A*M forum are very helpful (Go to the Tinkerers Corner): http://stompboxes.co.uk/forum/index.php

So awesome! I wants one!
