I don't think he's used it at any of the lastest gigs.

Cool guitar though!

Given Damon Smith also specialises in making a handcrafted maple-neck Esquire-type guitar - a simple interpretation of the earliest single pickup, solid body design that established then confirmed the primacy of Leo Fender's timeless and classic design that's still going very strong, I'm surprised he didn't give J that model from his small range of hand-crafted guitars. I think the semi-hollow bodied Roger Rossmeil-designed '72 Thinline Mr Spaceman always uses live indicates a clear preference for Leo Fender's classic shape.

Whilst Mr Smith's design leaves out the evolution that lead to those magnificent 1970s machines with their Seth Lover-designed "Wide Range" humbucking pickups - arguably the most important development in pickup technology since the famed late-fifties Gibson PAF the same Seth Lover designed ... though that pickup that created a tone that would define the music of the late 1960s/early 1970s, I thought the handmade Esquire-like design would have been a more appropriate gift ... but I guess the primary driver in such circumstances is don't look the proverbial gifthorse in the mouth!

I wish when I visited distant parts of the country, skilled craftsmen/women would pop up and give me a lovely guitar based on a classic design for free
I'm like Evel Knievel, I get paid for the attempt. I didn't promise this shit would be good!
