Synthesizers (hardware and software)

Post by scratch »

Soviet synthesizers - nice pics, specs and soundfiles from the early theremins and forward.

BTW Did you know that Lenin took lessons in playing the theremin? :D

makes you wonder.. as we all know many of the early american sci-fi movies was inspired by the fear of Soviet communist invasions.. and the theremine´s development was partly sponsored by the government.. so
Did that sound become the sound of invading aliens because it was a "communist" sound?

What software synthesizers do people here use? I haven´t used a hardware synth for the last ten years.

I don't use software synths. I've got an Evolver, a Novation X-Station, and an Elektron Monomachine. Monomachine and Evolver are both killer. X-Station is a nice keyboard controller but a mediocre synth.

I use hardware synths, too: vintage Univox Minikorg and a Moog Voyager MiniMoog.
