Effect pedal question
Does anyone know of a pedal that will generate random weird noises as you step on, kind of like that cycling 74 programme that takes your guitar notes and plays them back at random and makes your guitar sound like a pinball machine or like a lazer gun or something?
I'm not looking for a delay, more a pedal (preferrably not multi-effects!) that will generate random bleeps and through back notes at indeterminate moments. Does anyone know of anything like this, or a close relative to it?
Regards!

Zvex do something like this.

Are you looking for something like Graham Coxon uses in 'On your own" by Blur?

Re: Effect pedal question
Hi simon
Thanks for replying
Kind of like Coxon on OYO. But more like Jonny Greenwood playing Go to Sleep live

I'm aware that's a programme patch-max/msp I believe it's called.
Any further advice? I'll look at the Zvex

Re: Effect pedal question
You create with Max/Msp. It's a graphical interface programming application.radioshack wrote:Hi simon

You can create your own patches to midi output.
If you enjoy programming etc. I highly recommend it. I did an installation back in
2002 based on that. You played a guitar like a violin and it triggered video feedback.

Re: Effect pedal question
Hi modlab
I'm not one for programming. I looked into the max/msp thing and it looked rather complicated for my simple brain.
As you have first-hand knowledge can you offer any advice or recommendations?

Gotharman's Note Randomizer: http://www.analoguehaven.com/gotharmans/noterandomizer/
Gotharman's note randomizer are a midi effect, that treats incoming midi note on and off's. when it receives note data, it takes a look at the adjustable probability parameter, and the velocity value, if velo to prob is other than zero, and randomly decides if it will play that note or not. if it decides to play the note, it will have a look at the adjustable random velocity parameter, and if this is higher than zero, it will randomize the note velocity value with the adjusted amount. this effect is very useful for creating variations in otherwise repeating patterns.

Do you remember what it was called?radioshack wrote:kind of like that cycling 74 programme that takes your guitar notes and plays them back at random and makes your guitar sound like a pinball machine or like a lazer gun or something?
I have the pluggo and hipno (cycling 74´s discontinued packs of 100+ fx.. ) but I don´t use them much... some are good and some are among the worst plugin fx I´ve ever heard.
They are not for sale anymore so if you need old cracked pc versions.......

Actually, only thing I could say is buy a few books, talon forums. Back then the forums were so helpful. I would not have been able to finish the project without some serious geeks.
What exactly are you trying to do?

Re: Effect pedal question
I'm looking for my guitar to throw back random notes or phrases and have a weird kind of trigger or 'zapping' sound, that makes sense. Like a ZX Spectrum having a nervoud breakdown or something. So far I've just been achieving it by randomly playing the guitar very fast up and down the fretboard and hitting it with using more traditional pedals such as wah or a distortion.

Re: Effect pedal question
Thats brilliant. Imagine going into the local high street chain music shop and asking for something like that. The confused look on the shop assistants face would be reason enough to do it.radioshack wrote:Like a ZX Spectrum having a nervoud breakdown or something
