Yeah, Happy New Year to all the forumites. Hope 2013 is going to be good for you all and the music it brings. My 2013 couldn't possibly be starting any more exciting...Mrs Shines is booked in for a Caesarian tomorrow morning  :D Will update you all once things settle down. Now in the middle of compiling the birth mega-mix but Mrs Shines is finding a lot of the stuff I've been picking a bit too emotional and keeps welling up  Think we're going to end up with a mixture of Neil Young and Spiritualized which is all good in my book. Anyway, once again, all the best for 2013 everyone.

Ads, I can happily recommend Sweet Heart, Sweet Light as a soundtrack for what you are both about to go through - I speak with some experience here. That one went round and round during the night and day of our son's birth three months ago (time indeed flies!) by my wife's request - there was a few other albums but none were played as often as that - and while that album has soundtracked total extremes for me this year it has a particular resonance from that amazing/scary/intense/beautiful time, and the words have strange significance throughout to us now.

Anyway - the very best wishes with what today will bring! You may find your record buying/playing and basically everything else will be curtailed for a bit, I know I barely have enough time to post here at the moment!

And...

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!

Good luck to Mrs and Mrs Shines - will be thinking of you today. Lots of kids and babies flying about our place over the festive week - it really added a seasonal edge to everything.

Happy 2013 to one and all...

I have a son :D Baby Dylan was born at 10.06 on 2nd Jan, weighing 7lbs 8 oz. The name, Dylan, was already one of the options we had so, when he came out to Bob Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone" on my birthing mega-mix the deal was sealed! (The irony of me being a massive Neil Young fan rather than Bob Dylan is not lost on me  ). Baby and Mrs Shines (she is actually just my girlfriend rather than wife....I've just always referred to her as that on the forum for some reason so sorry for any confusion) are doing well and are hopefully coming home today. The whole experience has been the most amazing thing ever. Nothing anyone says can ever prepare you for it. I am so happy and proud of them both.

Thank you all for your comments and best wishes. And, once again, Happy New Year.
