I saw this too. Another example (imo) why American football is more dangerous than rugby. The collisions can be top speed.
But, In the NFL it probably would have been a penalty (helmet to helmet), 15 yards and Wolverine ball. I know it's a clean hit but because of his head jerk and the helmet flying off I think they would have thrown the flag.

Without helmets that would have involved a hospital visit! Ouch indeed...
Mind you have you watched any Australian Rules? For me that's probably the hardest ball game there is.

Re: Monster American Football hit video
I went to watch Richmond play on a regular basis when I lived in Melbourne. I simply couldn't believe the level of contact that came under the description "fair bump". What amazed me though was the amount of work the Aussie Rules players get through, 18 a side for the best part of 100 minutes on a cricket pitch running around smashing seven bells out of each other. Really great game to watch, although I always seemed to end up living near Collingwood supporters, which is never good.....runcible wrote:Without helmets that would have involved a hospital visit! Re: Monster American Football hit video
Part of the danger with Aussie Rules is that the players race around looking up in the air (which is where the ball is a lot of the time) so they can often run into each other at high speed.
I loved it when I lived in Melbourne for 4 months...
