end of subtlety

Post by The Dr »

Coolio is set to release videos from his new album exclusively through adult entertainment website PornHub.

Fans of the rapper will have to sign up as a member of PornHub to access the videos from 'Take It To The Hub'.

Speaking to TMZ about the unusual business arrangement, Coolio says that the videos will feature "talent" provided by PornHub. A video featured on the site as a preview sees the musician spraying a group of models, including adult stars Jessica Bangkok, Missy Martinez and Skin Diamond, with a hose. One actress is seen twerking while dressed in a dinosaur onesie.

The rapper's new musical venture may come as a surprise to some after he was reported to be auctioning the royalty rights to his back catalogue in 2013 to fund his dream to become a world famous cook.

Coolio was looking to sell the rights to his 123 song catalogue – which included 'Gangsta's Paradise' and 'Rollin' With My Homies' – in order to release a follow-up to his 2009 book Cookin' With Coolio.

The 50-year-old hip hop star last released an album in 2009. 'From the Bottom 2 the Top' was his sixth LP. His best-selling album was 1995's 'Gangsta's Paradise'.

'Dostoevsky's dead,' said the citizeness, but somehow not very confidently.

'I protest!' Behemoth exclaimed hotly. 'Dostoevsky is immortal!”

Tragic.

Seems like reality is often more satirical than satire.

As a rapper, could you do anything that would make you more of a pastiche?

I'd also like to state at this point how much I hate Coolio for ruining 'Pastime Paradise' so completely.

Everyone has SOME type of talent or activity they excel at. The key for this young lady is Practice, Practice, Practice, and to be certain and choose something she enjoys!

Frankly, I thought any illusion of "subtlety" had been ended long, long ago. This music has its place; Disco had a place in musical history; as did the Charleston. They are not asked for quite so often anymore....I believe this art form will be filed similarly. Word.

Quite.

Now, I have not met the dear girl, but I am not sure we really could make the assumption that;
  • a) she's good at it (sex you mean, presumably)-she's clearly effective at giving the average consumer of porn enough of what they want that they are willing to spend money on 'merchandise' with her name on it.

    b) she enjoys it-hard to judge this without knowing her but I suspect 'enjoyment' in and of itself is probably not her primary motivation for being in the line of work she is in.
I don't mean to get at you, just thought those are further points for consideration.

Gee, I though she was a Thai Musician.

Of course I knew she must be in the sex trade, and pretending to enjoy it probably DOES require some practice; with a room of people, lights, cameras and "Action!", and likely little other lust than for the payment she receives. I would not recognize her photo, no matter what angle was shown, including her likely angelic face. I was kidding. "Joking". Maybe it was not a fair topic of humor, but frankly, I cannot take any of it seriously, from Ms. Bangkok to "twerking" Cook Books.
It is a sad sort of surreal situation; and to become a "much Loved" inoculated petri-dish is far from finding something to enjoy; Ergo, "Sarcasm" was introduced as a vehicle to attempt humor at what I personally find to be unfortunate.

So, I plead guilty to Attempted Humor. Good Grief.

No, I believe it is quite unlike it. Not even a corollary. What I wrote was not what I thought, truly - I erred.

I did err in writing in a (semi) comedic way against what I had read. I read a post that I personally found discouraging, and responded in a manner inconsistent with my true feelings, as you invoked "satirical", I invoked "sarcasm"; something I often do - to "attempt humor" when not much else I can write would be very positive, but giving, with what I write, a more subtle response, or again, to "attempt humor". I like to joke; I like to play with words; it was the inappropriateness of THIS particular joking around where I made a terrible mistake. Firstly, I am not a big fan of commercialized rap and the associated forms that were created by it. I DO like the original, raw, street rap when the tapes were sold in Harlem and Detroit and other places; they were speedy blues, a story of the day; but this "Original" form was taken over and made so formulaeic, so commercial, that it is no longer like the raw, real poetry and music that I have hundreds of examples of.

Add to that, some porn channel, where girls who just might like to do something else instead, are the visual backdrop; and to make the weird weirder, there is a COOK BOOK involved. It makes, for me, a very strange and ALMOST humorous set up for a joke. The ENTIRE THING sounded like a joke. I could believe someone made the entire thing up FOR A PUNCHLINE TO BE ADDED SOMEHOW! Because I do like to laugh, I do kid around a lot; so much so that many times the "joke" is either missed or taken as real. Several people could tell you how they were sort of "caught" in a joke, felt uncomfortable, actually, until they KNEW I was kidding about something; then we both had a laugh!

To know that many young girls are forced into a lifestyle that is degrading, regardless of payment, or the more likely scenario of the girl being meat for sale and not being "as fortunate" as the porn star mentioned, who, regardless of whether she enjoys her 'work" or not, is free to STOP. How many girls do you imagine are not free to do much of anything? In movies, there is a common theme for the "poor boy" in certain areas or neighborhoods; become a Priest or a Criminal. What can a young girl, without choice, guidance, or education or hope to choose to do?

The path of least resistance, and greatest Monetary reward for such a young girl is to sell herself, or to be sold, with some delusion of fame, and perhaps even, to feel a part of something, to be with some entourage; and this was in the back of my mind. I should have not joked. I should have pointed out what I believe as I have just done.

Communication via computer is still rather new for me, despite the fact that I have used computers since the time I had to program them myself. I used them like any other tool; a screwdriver or a hammer, or in my case, a quick way of calculating massive numbers of repetitive iterations. One day I counted in the laboratories, and other equipment I used, no less than 30 computerized devices - not counting personal computers. The "rules" so called; are still relatively new to me; and since I sometimes am NOT as clear as I'd like to be, I work a little harder, I may joke, but I do try to make my points clear as I can as a rule, anyway - but not always in fact. Even the "rules" are funny to me; capitalized words are "SHOUTING!"; I still find that funny. I have typed in capitals for other reasons that had nothing to do with volume!

No, this is not an example of the perversion of "Godwin's Law"; it was a joke in place of what I really thought. I joked, in my own way, to say that this situation is not what I would think to be a good one. So, I made Ms. B into a musician who needed to practice and choose her instrument; when what I really meant is that I felt so sorry for the girls WHO HAVE NO CHOICE! WHO ARE SOLD as commodities that yield profit and what happens to them is irrelevant.

The former Musician, the "Channel", the Cook Book were all extra; a world that (personally) I cannot feel comfortable with when I know that so many young girls and women will be sold and used, or used to survive, or as their "way out", while others sit back and are rewarded handsomely.

It was flippant, and not what I actually had on my mind; but joking is a way of dealing with the inane, as I saw this to be.

end of subtlety

Oh yes, I made that supposition, and it is nice to be right every once in awhile. :D
But as understand the Principle, it is, ideally, about bad old AH entering the argument, yes? And although I can see your point of view, I see the silliness of "twerking cookbooks" as more playing with words, where "twerking" is now an adjective, or perhaps the whole term is all wrapped up into some new phrase of an indeterminant meaning; I know there are corollaries to this Ideal, but it has been ages since I read that. I was reading something in the Doc's Office that had been sent to me. I do find the entire scenario put forth disconcerting; but that is simply my own opinion. I very much like a "Live and let Live" world unless someone simply will not do the same for me, which is wonderfully rare!

It is nice to converse, even virtually with those on this site; and I DID ALMOST continue with the humor line, there IS plenty to work with; but instead, I thought I would be direct and simply admit I erred in my approach this time. I have seen some very ugly things in the past; and heard from a Social Worker things that I don't wish to repeat. I can see why although he was paid handsomely, it was not enough, and he quit.

Well, have a Great Day!

In any situation I find myself in where I am unsure of how to react, I just remember to ask myself:

"What would Prince do?"

Never fails.
