Flooded

Post by spzretent »

Incredible what steady rain from 2pm on today can do to an entire area.
Almost everyone I know has flooding issues tonight.
I have 4 inches of water throughout my basement. Luckily anything of value is up one floor but I did lose a lot of stock for my website. Baseball hats and such. That I can deal with.
I am also one of the lucky ones. I know people who have no basement that have 2 feet of water in their lower leverl. I have heard stoies of 4 feet of water in basements.
The local news will be pretty shocking around here tonight.

I am terribly sorry and saddened for this spzretent; It is terrible to lose items or suffer other damage; I hope that you have or can obtain a subpump and some fans and so on.

(My home has no basement, because of the underwater springs in the area make the idea unworkable; so my storm shelter is compact but adequate).

Basically the entire Detroit area was affected. Every major freeway was flooded with cars abandoned.
While it is an incovenience what happened to me it is nothing compared to others i know. Today is going to be clean up day.
You can now add a severly sprained wrist to this. Flip flops, pissing down rain, and polished granite steps is a bad combo. Wiped out and put my left hand down to break my fall and well....now i can only use my right hand.

my sympathies to you. Know what you're going through, our house got flooded two weeks ago after a torrential downpour. My records were luckily stored upstairs, so no ham there. But it's just a mess to sort everything out. Oh well... we'll live :|
