We are just curious if anyone is seeing faster browsing with this new server
Any feedback at all would be welcome.

FWIW, this new version of the forum is particular fast. I'm being returned to the board almost immediately after posting a message. There was a notable lag on the previous board. Kudos to Nightwash et al for all the hard work in setting up the migration.

I know "fast" is a relative term, and I may have just been at the "right moment in time" - but due to the storms and Satellite interference, (and I am used to interference problems), I observed the following.

I tried to log on without success; so, I went across the house to get a Pepsi, and when I returned, and tried to logon again, voila', it was (almost) as nothing had ever changed, and the SITE was there!

One tiny problem I observed was fixed by NightWash in a FLASH!

GREAT Job!

ADDENDUM: On a clear day devoid of interference I HAVE noticed the SITE is indeed quicker; and once again, I say "GREAT JOB"!

Don't know about faster, but since you switched servers I no longer receive email notifications that I have a new pm awaiting my perusal.
I don't usually log in when visiting here so there could be a pm sitting there for days without my knowing. Not a big deal but something you should know about I guess.

That's odd as I have received notifications that I have PMs. I'm sure this can be sorted though...

I've had the same issue as sunray. As sometimes I may just be having a quick browse on the site to see what people are saying, but may not be logged in, as has been the case recently, I've only been aware of a PM when I've logged in.

Did you check your spam folder? It seems that messages get marked as spam. Not sure, why. Maybe the .band domain is not this common.
If you have no messages in your spam/junk folders, it would be great if you could forward me the pms. If not, please pm me with as much details as you have. Especially the time they were sent.

Thanks for reporting

Problem solved - messages found in Spam fo9lder - just don't tend to check it that often as that's where all the rubbish ends up!

On another note, may well just be coincidence, but have noticed an increased amount of Spam. As I say though the nature of Spam could just mean it's one of those things though!

You can avoid having those messages in your spam folder if you add the sender of the notifications to your contacts (well, usually this works ;) ).

Regarding increased spam: I can tell you almost for sure that it is not caused by this forum/server. I keep an eye on its activity and i am busy keeping it as clean as i can. But spam is a "personal" problem anyway...maybe you registered at some "shady" site for a newsletter or a site you are registered got hacked and your mail address has been sold to someone. You will almost never really find out...i receive a couple of spam messages almost for sure because my wife and i registered my mail-address at M&Ms a while ago and they got hacked...funny, because the name we used was the one of my wife. So now i get offers for viagra and so on with her name...

But back to topic. Any other issues people are expecting?

After digging around with the problem of missing notifications i came up with 2 things:

1. There was a missing configuration on the board/URL side, which made spam filters think that those mails are not "official". I fixed this, mails should now arrive in the inbox (or directly filtered to notifications or something).
2. Hotmail will silently drop the messages. I don't know why on earth they do so - they should normally just mark them as spam/junk but deliver them anyway.

So i ask the members to
a) check if new notifications still arrive in spam/junk folders. If yes, pm me with the details please.
b) Don't use Hotmail if possible. If you are a new user, you CAN'T use hotmail to register anyway since you will never receive the confirmation email. If you would like to receive confirmations/notifications or maybe forgot your password, you will be lost with hotmail. There is not much i can do on our side.

Edit: I changed the board settings to reflect the not-working hotmail addresses. If someone registers now with a hotmail address or tries to change his address to a hotmail one, there should be a message telling them that this is not allowed address because we can't deliver any mail to it.

Hotmail seems to work again - however mails are delivered to the Junk-Mail folder. Since it is not unusual that mails will be marked as spam (its not easy to tell spam from no-spam anymore) i will re-enable hotmail as a mail provider again.

If you haven't received a notification email (with any provider), please check you spam/junk mail folder.

Edit: Thanks to sunray for reporting.
