As many of you know I have a company that moves seniors from their homes to apartments, independent living facilities, assisted living facilities, nursing homes whatever the situation requires. We help the clients de-clutter, design their new space , pack them, move them, handle the transfer of television and computer service, hang all their artwork, unpack them so when they walk in the entire space is done.
Yesterday we moved a 55 year old autistic adult. He is a massive Beatles fan. His apartment was filled with all sorts of Beatles memorabilia. He is such a happy go lucky person who's family takes care of him financially. He does work.
I was in charge of dismantling his Beatles collection and putting it back up exactly as it was in his old apartment.
I decided that I would quietly add to his collection as he had the 4 Beatles Yellow Submarine figures but not the extra ones that came with each Beatle. There was the Yellow Submarine, Blue Meanie, Jeremy and the Love Glove. I also added a shaped Yellow Submarine lunch box as well as a Beatle's Illustrated Lyrics book.
When I was done I called him over and asked him if the collection looked ok? He gasped and almost started crying as did a few of our employees who were aware what I was doing.
I have been smiling for the past day every time I think of his reaction.
It was priceless.
With all the shitty things happening in the world I thought I would give you guys something to smile about.

That`s a great little story man, good to hear about folk going the extra mile and doing things for others, I always try and do what I can in my own job, the little things can make quite a difference to folk,

Even aside from the main purpose of your company that benefits these people that was such a cool thing to do. Pat on the back from me.

I have always felt the most important thing I can do, as an owner of this company, is show an interest in our clients. Many are widowed and lonely and if someone takes a few minutes out of their day to to ask them about themselves it goes a long way. You make a connection. Or a bond.
I have been told incredible and moving stories from WW2 Vets, Holocaust survivors and people who can tell me the history of Detroit.
We don't often get Beatles collectors so this one was right up my alley. It was a chance to give back and also make the whole staff feel good in the process. It also allowed me to smile a lot.
