I am still slowly but surely unboxing recordings and placing new re-sealable protective plastics on
them at my best pace, and placing them in "proper" record boxes. I did not take the images, but instead, used those sent to me originally.

1). THE ZOMBIES - She's NOT There - Original, 1st Release - Philippines Jacket; Decca; [SEALED - CORHTC]
2). THE ZOMBIES - Odessey and Oracle - Later USA jacket on the Date Label 1968. What a Wonderful LP.
3). GENE AUTRY - "Home on the Range" 2 versions 78rpm 10" disc; SOUTH AFRICA. Too weird to let pass by. These S.A. Discs are increasingly rare in this "as new" condition. CBS Label.
4). PINK FLOYD - OST "More" 1969; USA Harvest Label; [SEALED]; "West Facing Couple" (another spare copy); this is a later release; the 1st release was on the Striped Tower label.
5). PROCOL HARUM - "PORTRAIT" LP; Dutch Only Gatefold; $tateside Label; I am not quite certain of the date yet.

For various reasons it has been a couple of weeks since I bought anything  . This week I have so far managed:

PiL: Metal Box (Original UK pressing in the metal tin, minty mint vinyl with all inserts included at a bargain price)
GNOD: Infinity Machines.
The Heads: Nobody Knows (Black vinyl  . I already have the coloured vinyl from the recent gig). Picked up a copy for Sunray too!
Bardo Pond: Is There A Heaven?
Mark Lanegan/Duke Garwood: Split 7" for RSD
Colin Potter: Frogs Porn/Bulkhead 8" single on Polytechnic Youth #29 of a pressing of 55 copies.

I cant afford to go down the Polytechnic Youth label route. Dom has now (due to releasing excellent stuff fort years) got me back catalogue hunting all GPS (got two thirds of it now) and Deep distance (complete) and even Earworm (maybe half).
My completist in me wouldn't forgive me for missing out on the limited releases and I would spending daft money trying to buy them.
I trust they are good quality stuff Olan ?

I understand your point. From a different view however, this is positive for a number of reasons. I suppose I would have preferred that the original Companies and Labels did these subsequent pressings; that could help keep a continuity of a "known quality"; but perhaps an equally important point, many people who had not heard of Spiritualized, for whatever sea of reasons, can buy a recording; for if some of these discs are bringing "high" prices USED, then it suggests not that many, or at least not enough were originally pressed for current demand; music that people like is re-released as often as necessary to meet that demand, unless something goes wrong. A change of labels is nothing new; though pressing standards do not seem to be as high as they once were.

In my case, in 1990, I was working in an off-site project for the University, and it was a very hectic time for me - I learned of the band really by "accident". Luckily for me, I have long bought a lot of music, and one Music Store owner kept EVERY Promo copy of several bands I like put back; another really great shop with plenty of Imports did the same for me; putting back at least 1 copy of every Spiritualized release; and remaining shops filled in a great many "gaps" in what the other stores missed. Not everyone had the time to gather and glean - even if they KNEW before I did; and in the mass of musical sludge out there, it is easy to miss out on any new band; so I am glad anyone who "missed out" or for whatever reason wants the Music, and does not require an Original Pressing, they can enjoy an LP.

It is a good sign for ?JPierce that more people WANT a new pressing; these may be new fans of Spiritualized, or those of us who already enjoy the music and give Music as gifts or any number of OTHER reasons; and if he has a fan base who (still) buys his recordings, unlike other musicians who fade away, The Spaceman will be back when he is ready!

As to sound quality, I ended up with a couple of these by complete accident; but the store who sent them said "keep them", but I have not heard them. I personally prefer the original pressings when I listen to anything, that is, if I HAVE the originals.

okay deep breath, haven't posted on this thread in a while. Looking at the list I think I'm trying to investigate genres outside of the usual psych/spacerock spectrum lately.

Inventions- Maze of Woods
Nels Cline- Destroy All
The Ornette Coleman Quartet- Free Jazz
Nina Simone- Wild Is The Wind
Richmond Fontaine- Post to Wire
Richmond Fontaine- The High Country
Bark Psychosis- Game Over
Amen Dunes- Love
The Walkmen- Lisbon (2CD version)

I'm pretty much caught up on GPS, to the point where what I don't have is impossible to find and/or insanely expensive. I have all the DD and PY issues, so I can see a future conflict between my OCD collector side kicking in on GPS and my bank manager. The PY stuff is pretty much experimental electronica, quite often homespun. It is a bit more out there than the DD material. I really enjoy it, but haven't really listened to the last couple yet.

I have quite a few GPS 7"s if you shoot me a list I will see if i can help plug some holes. Got a transatlantic trip to pay for now. Even delving into my Stones 7" collection to help pay for this trip. Quite frankly something I never thought I would do.
Life is too short to miss this Brudenell show.

I have had hundreds of downloads and cd's from Sam as he has been fine tuning his LP, one of the songs on the Lp is probabl;y about 8 or 9 years old and was staple of his solo sets (God is a Gun). Anyhow I am chuffed to bits for him that his album has been so well received and it sold out in mega quick time, so a re-press is due in The New Year. He is making a rare foray North(ish) this weekend with his band and playing a pub type affair in Newcastle Under Lyme near Stoke, I shall be in attendance.
For those who are Lightshines or Chatham Rise fans this is up for pre order.

I continue to properly box what I open, and this was a series of [sealed] LPs; a project that I have worked on for many years, but as certain copies become prohibitively costly, I thought it would be a good idea to continue while old favorites were still available as spares. I took no photos, but used those sent to me.

1). Buffalo Springfield "‎Again" [sealed] 1st Press 1967 US LP.
2). Buffalo Springfield s/t LP 1966/7 Stereo [sealed] US LP w/ "mono" label on reverse jacket
3). Buffalo Springfield s/t LP 1966 MONO [sealed] US LP.
4). The Zombies "Egoli" LP 1978-9 Stereo [sealed] SOUTH AFRICA; titles are mostly not in English; it is
..........exceptionally difficult to find these South African recordings still sealed; as are those from
..........Rhodesia and other African countries, for a wide variety of reasons, this was a very fortunate
.... .....and unexpected find. The Zombies were at #2 in early SA 1968 - before ever charting in
..........the UK! "EGOLI" is Zulu for Johannesburg, the Capitol of South Africa.
5). The Zombies "Odessey and Oracle" US [sealed] Stereo Original Jacket; another image above of the (later) Jacket.
6). Procol Harum "The Dead Man's Dream" 7" single Holland; $tateside Label 1967.

Plus
The Tattoos "Pop Goes Trumpet" see above, NICO cover; (THIS copy on Telefunken Teldec; German) c. 1965 [sealed]
and The MAD
Ron Geesin
"Biting The Hand" BBC Radio Broadcasts 1969-75 [2-CD Set - New] A New Release that looked good. :D

"The Time of the Season Video" The Zombies, based on the LP from 1968

I am doing much better than I could have ever expected in obtaining very nice 1st release [sealed] copies. Some are the price of a new recording; and others are not; but I believe it is beneficial to obtain these now, and for as long as I can. FANTASTIC sound quality in these "first of firsts" and Promo Copies. I am having a lot of fun opening boxes; for so long I could not. So I will enjoy it while it lasts; and then, when I am able - finally - I will have a Nonstop Musicarama Listen for a few Months! :D

Les Anderson "Blues is a Woman Gone"; jazz w/ 1965 NICO cover; MONO [sealed] ATco label
Pink Floyd "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" Tower 1967 PROMO [sealed]
...........I know you have all seen this cover; but the "Promo Cut-Hole" is why I put it here; this is NOT
...........a cut-out; cut-outs use a smaller "paper punch" sized hole, or even a puncture, cut corners, or
...........a saw cut; this LARGER diameter hole in the upper right hand corner is the SIGNATURE of a
...........Tower/ Capitol and many other Labels, like Decca used at times (plus this copy has a Promo
...........Label UNDER the shrink-wrap); but sometimes that label, usually in red is missing. So, if you
...........are out obtaining music, this larger hole, almost 1.0 cm across, +/- is a PROMO copy. (Two
...........people have asked me, so I thought others might like to know that point if they did not already.
? and the Mysterians "96 Tears" 1st release 1966; Coral; [sealed] MONO (unfortunately, it IS a cut-out; see the lower
...........left side, and compare the relative sizes between ? and the Pink Floyd; obvious, isn't it?).
The WHO "My Generation" 1st release 1965 Decca Promo [sealed] I prefer this cover to the UK release; it's so "British".
The Rolling Stones "Out of Our Heads" 1965 London label MONO [sealed] (w/ sticker for "Satisfaction").
Zager and Evans s/t 1969 RCA label Stereo [sealed] USA
Procol Harum "Exotic Birds and Fruit" LP Stereo [sealed] USA
SAME AS ABOVE - [sealed 8-Track] USA "Colorful version"; the UK for some reason opted for a more B&W artwork.

NOT Sealed, but still a Great Addition:
Pink Floyd "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" very obscure 1971, 1st release, ITALIAN only Jacket on Columbia; NM/M-; I have looked for one this nice for AGES; the last really nice one was in 1980; but I thought it was "too much".
I did not take these photos, but used what was sent to me.

davedecay wrote:Where are you finding these sealed records?
OK;
1). Before the Internet, I wrote MANY, MANY hundreds of letters over the years to shops, and to Private Dealers I was contacted by, or to Radio Stations, and even Museums; I left lists of specific recordings, and gave the "general" Idea of what I wanted and was trying to do and updated the ones who responded. A great many answered; I started this when I was 14 years old - I was and I still am serious in how I obtain the best quality recordings I possibly can. I STILL write and send lists; not everyone sees the Internet as the "Ideal". So, having as many sources I know I can trust helps. They won't send an LP sealed that looks otherwise; just because it is sealed does not mean it is at its best in aesthetics.

2). When I am interested in a specific recording or band or era, and I search online, I simply add "SEALED" to the search. Not everyone who has sealed LPs for sale is selling mainly music; so they may have only ONE recording, and it happens to be sealed and has just been stored in the "music console" for decades.

3). After all these years, there are maybe 100 or so Dealers I buy from for my collection from time to time. Over the years, the number has declined for all kinds of reasons; but this still is a fairly large and dispersed group to obtain from - and after these many years, I know who is reliable and grades in a way I don't have to "guess" or return things; a "sealed" Recording is not automatically "MINT". Many Dealers NEVER use the term MINT for anything; it's just their way.

4). Search Engines are far better than they used to be; but I still add or specify Country of Origin; again I add " SEALED" to the search. For example, Rhodesian or Lithuanian recordings are very difficult to obtain in good condition, unless THEY ARE STILL SEALED; so I specify "specialty" or "collector" recordings to the Search. Taiwanese recordings, for example, from the 1960's are often very rare; a few hundred at most were pressed for GI's at Military Bases. (One of my favorites is a live Jazz Club recording called "Jazz Spot USA", on translucent golden vinyl. I saw a notation ages ago that gave the number pressed at 100 copies, but I couldn't care less - the music is great, and it really gives the feeling of "being there"). Taiwanese recordings of the early 1960's to the mid 1970's are not much to look at; a sort of flimsy, but thick protectant plastic with an inner plastic sleeve; and every one I have was made with a Unique Jacket. Some have a TINY mention of the Military Base, and it adds to the History of the recording. Any "Specialty" attribute I add to the list or Search. Sometimes these extra variables confuse the computer, but it is very useful for a real person.

5). Sometimes I just get lucky! A lot of that luck is Patience.

6). Lastly, since many "New" LPs were NEVER sealed, (something that always puzzled me about certain countries; WHY not ensure the buyer it is untampered with or Undamaged in some way?); so unless it was MADE for export, it may not be sealed but still be new; if I am certain of the item and, more importantly, the source, I add "NEW" along with "SEALED" on my list or search. 99% of say, Pink Floyd singles I've obtained were NOT sealed; but the sources were all impeccable; and even under the microscope, the disc is Pristine. This, by the way, took DECADES to accomplish.

So, this is the basic method by which I have tried to single out and obtain the very best SEALED discs; just because it IS sealed is not a guarantee it is not damaged! So I always remember that. If it is a "costly" copy and I have a doubt, I have the disc X-rayed. It can show cracks - but a sealed disc in ever-shrinking-shrink-wrap can Warp the disc over time, but that by "feel" check came with experience that is NOT guaranteed. If it is a sealed disc, I expect the jacket to look as new as possible; if it is an LP I will open, I want that "Time Machine Effect" to be complete. Some of the Sealed recordings I purchased in say the last 3 years were $10 - $20; (most were more), but some that are great additions and unique were on that $10 - $20 range, INCLUDING the many popular or rare recordings, and others that often have a premium added for whatever reason.

I hope this answers your question, and will help you find what you want in the Best condition possible; because for me, anyway, History (and aesthetics) aside, I search out the best possible SOUND REPRODUCTION. The music - most importantly, the reproduction of what was meant to be captured on that disc trumps every other variable. Looking really NICE isn't a bad "extra", however. :D

This is a 1960's favorite I have seen mentioned over time on the SPZ SITE; this particular example of "Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass" was pressed and the Jacket printed in Spain. c.1966; "Whipped Cream and Other Delights". This copy was obtained from Denmark. A lovely Picture Disc "for the nostalgia" was released in late 2005.

******By the way, just some related trivia; the young lady was VERY far along in her pregnancy; so she is very well covered; the "whipped Cream" was in fact shaving cream - the hot lights needed for the photography would have created problems. Still, a Classic mid-1960's release & Jacket.

One more [sealed] recording from that last box, by CURVED AIR, their 2nd UK LP; has a Jem Sticker, which is an import company that early on, took UK recordings and those of other countries, and sealed them w/ shrink-wrap and imported them mainly into North American Record Stores. This is a great band, from 1971, on the Warner Brothers record label.

(Again, I am using photos sent to me for awhile, anyway).

I bought this copy a few months ago and had it put it in an LP frame to protect it; the vinyl was placed in another sleeve; at the same time I found a [sealed] STEREO example of the "Trunk" cover, but you can see certain points of the "Butcher Cover" UNDER the paste-over. I tried to Photograph them together, but this was difficult enough. I have a GREAT ROIO of this image taken at a different angle, which is cool; with outtakes and much goofing off on Capitol/ Parlophone's time that was made in 1970; a very nice pressing for a bootleg.

1966 "Yesterday and Today" (L.A. Manufactured [#3]) "Butcher Cover", MONO; "under glass", and distorted.

(I need a REAL camera.
But then what would I blame the lousy photos on?)
:D Sorry it looks so bad, though - it is a nice example.

While I was in Hospital, it did not keep me from obtaining music; just listening as I would like.
I have shared plenty, so I will stay off this Thread awhile, although I never miss a page, and if I do, I go back and see what is there; there is a Library of Musical Images and Lists that has been created by the Users of this Wonderful SITE!

Hey!

Some amazing stuff here - what do you think of the Cellar Door set?
Also - Kendrick Lamar - any good? I've been sent a copy of it but not listened to it yet, getting a lot of acclaim though it seems.
Sorry for not replying sooner Bza - only just noticed this post because I just did a forum search for Kendrick Lamar! Anyway, two crazy-busy months after buying To Pimp A Butterfly, I'm finally getting round to my first listen. Five tracks in so far and I'm utterly hooked - the hype is more than justified so far. The second track is amazing - crazy King Crimson-esque jazz with virtuoso rapping on top. If the rest of the album maintains this stellar quality I can see myself spinning this on repeat for weeks. How are you finding it? Not had a chance to digest much of the Miles Davis set yet - will report back soon ;)

Zone Six: Love Monster (This is simply a beast of a record. Possibly the best LP I've bought so far this year).
Sula Bassana: Kosmonauts (One of the Zone Six crew, but with an electronic approach. Excellent LP)
Electric Moon: Cellar Space Live Overdose (Darmstadt) (Another by the Zone Six brigade, this is a Bandcamp download and is on fire)
Johnny Cash: The Legend (Box set bought cheaply)
Miles Davis & John Coltrane: The Complete Columbia Recordings 1955 - 1961 (Box set bought cheaply)
Unknown Mortal Orchestra: Multi-Love (absolute rubbish)
Eccentronic Research Council: Johnny Rocket, Narcissist & Music Machine...I'm your biggest fan (Vey good LP, bonkers though)
Sterling Roswell: Call of the Cosmos
Constellation Botsu: Constellation Botsu (Electronic madness. Even a remix by Hall of Whirling Knives cannot rescue this insanity)

Yeah Olan I obtained the first Unknown Mortal Orchestra album on CD and thankfully saw through that straight away. I no longer own it anyway
That is likely to be my approach to Tame Impala unless they get the act together. New stuff sounds shocking

A meeting in Preston very obviously required my urgent attention diverting to Action Records so I purchased;

Mugstar-Lime LP (have traded in the cd)
The Liminanas 1st album re-press (comes with cd as well)
BJM- Give it Back LP (again having traded in the cd a while back)

also on my doorstep from somewhere in Europe was one of my missing Great Pop Supplement release, this time the Karen Novotny X 7"

I await from discogs Yo La Tengo- Popular Songs, BJM-Satanic Majesties Requests, The Verve-All In The Mind 12" and Mogwai 2LP-Mr Beast......all of which replacing traded in cds

An expensive pattern is forming here

Acid Baby Jesus - Selected Recordings (purchased the LP at a gig, pretty tripped out and dirty sounding, very Nuggets)
Thee Oh Sees - Mutilator Defeated At Last (business as usual, great album, better than Drop)
King Gizzard & The Wizard Lizard - Quarters (loving this more and more, lovely ten minute jams)
Various - Sub Pop Rock City LP (replacing a long lost copy from my teens)
Duke Garwood - Heavy Love (great atmosphere, similar style to Mark Lanegan, brooding, sexy blues)

[Environments 1 (1969); IRV TEIBEL (Taken from Wikipedia)
Side 1: The Psychologically Ultimate Seashore (30:00)

The initial recording in the series goes back to 1968. Working under the direction of Tony Conrad and Beverly Grant Conrad, Teibel recorded ocean waves at Coney Island for use in their feature film "Coming Attractions" (1970). Teibel immediately sensed the marketability of this material, noting its effect on improving concentration, enhancing sleep and sex, and imparting a sense of calm to the listener. Conrad, who wished to credit Walter De Maria for his prior usage of ocean recordings, was not willing to become a partner in the Syntonics Research enterprise as envisioned by Teibel, so Teibel parted ways with the "Coming Attractions" project. Subsequently Teibel himself felt unsatisfied with his results —- though his Uher stereo reel-to-reel tape recorder had faithfully captured the sounds of the surf, he felt that they were less convincing on playback. A friend of Teibel's, Louis Gerstman, had access to an IBM 360 computer, and he and Teibel played around with processing the recordings until eventually the two of them hit upon a series of manipulations (basically some rolling filtering and overdubbing) which sounded 'more real than real.'

Side 2: Optimum Aviary (30:00)
For the second side of the LP, Teibel recorded an enclosure of birds at the Bronx Zoo aviary. Later soundscapes were much more naturalistic].

(I saw this when looking for an Eno LP, and even the Jacket Art Work struck me as "Eno Like"; I have not yet heard it, but I look forward to it). Pressed in 1970. Luckily, the disc was still [sealed]. Atlantic Record label, USA. (I am using the Image provided to me).

This Recording is the FIRST of 11, creating "22 different Environments"; from what I have found out, there was increasingly LESS use of electronica - and more emphasis on "ideal" recordings "more natural in technique, with minimum manipulation by any electronic means".

These Taiwanese Jackets, plastic covered and lined, were usually aesthetically pretty poor, but the pressings were well done; oftentimes they are on "unmentioned" colored media; one of my favorites, "Jazz Spot, USA" - is on Orange media.

The WHO "Direct Hits" Japanese Original Pressing; inserts and OBI; on Track Records; Stereo/ Mono.
KIM FOWLEY "Love is Alive and Well" 1st issue; MONO on Tower Label 1967 [sealed] USA; (spare n)
Kim Fowley started with this release, and kept right on going thru New Wave and Punk; but of everything I have or have heard, I recommend this for the Title song and "War Game", very timely for 1967; a visual set to music of a tripped out fellow who thinks he has just been invited to a new club......Anyway, it was worth a little premium to obtain sealed and IT HAS BEEN re-released for anyone who does not insist upon a listen from the Tower label copy!
TALKING HEADS "I Zimbra" / "Air" 1978 [sealed] 7" Single Sire label; FRANCE; Stereo.
THE MITCHELL TRIO "Violets of Dawn" 1965 [sealed] LP; Stereo. (This is where John Denver started; it was suggested I place it between The Dead Kennedys and Music for Lucifer). Too unkind I think.
BRIAN ENO "Ambient #3 - Day of Radiance" 1980 [sealed] EG records. Stereo.

Plus a selection of "Thee Oh Sees", "Gnod", "Aliens", "Zone Six" and numerous other assorted Modern releases; the "Zone Six", (among others) is pressed on a really very beautiful splatter/ translucent medium.

I added an image of The Tattoos - "Pop Goes Trumpet" from the Telefunken (German) label; If only every LP had some of these features - (and I do not mean Nico nearly nude); BOTH the Obverse and Reverse are beautifully laminated and would stay "clean" easily; the image and wording are all remarkably clear; and the disc is VERY heavy with an Incredible, quality pressing. For c. 1965, this was fantastic. For 2015 it is WONDERFUL! If only........but it would now likely be "cost prohibitive" to attempt this quality across the board. It is very nice to have when you find it!

In the USA, too many LPs were too quickly made with pasted on covers and even recycled vinyl! Yuck. I did so want to buy US Pressings, but there came a time that I said ENOUGH, and unless it was a USA ONLY pressing, (13th Floor Elevators, anything on Tower) and so on, I bought, (for listening) German, UK and Japanese pressings, but not always in that order.
(I used images as they were sent to me)

THE ZOMBIES; I thought I'd share an image of one of those 1967 "Pre-Hit" singles that were released (and flopped) compared to "The Time of the Season", a little later, in 1968. The single arrived in an "Epic" company sleeve.

Re: Last few albums/lp's and 7" singles you bought?

Post by semisynthetic »

It was a very good weekend for finding recordings; I bought several 1960's LPs still sealed, and one of them I recommend. A band called "The Family Tree" (I know of at least 3 DIFFERENT bands of the same name - but a few years later in time), released "Miss Butters" in 1968; (my 1st copy is dated 1965 - an obvious error that is seen printed in a deep tint on the Center of the Jacket Obverse; an early concept album about the live(s), (and deaths) of first an elderly Teacher, and a younger, dedicated Teacher - In the Title. I found my (1st copy) many years ago (I had no idea what this was); in a cut-out bin; and I was very pleased with the musicianship and lyrics, and certainly the little story. Maybe because I have such fond memories of many of my Teachers from 1st grade to University; and I enjoyed Teaching at University. Anyway, I was very pleased to see a sealed copy, WITHOUT any cut-out, so I bought it. A quandary exists on the DATE OF RELEASE/ PRESSING; my copy very clearly states "1965", although all of the data that I have found states 1968! When the "new" original pressing arrives, it will be interesting to see if the 1st copy's stated date is there or missing as it should be - (if the "new" copy also states 1965, that will be interesting)! I know the LP is very "tame" in every way by today's standards, certainly; but it has an certain attractive quality to it; PLUS it was pressed on HEAVY vinyl when RCA USA still knew how to do that very well, which helps. Anyway, it is one of those recordings that got lost in the crowd and is worth at least one listen I suppose, like so many pieces that were looked over, or did not do well "in their time". A proper listen with a "real" Sound System is preferable, as always.
So this is most of the weekend list: (some from a http://dockellisrecords.bigcartel.com/ near YOU!)

The Family Tree "Miss Butters" LP; 1968; SEALED; RCA USA Label. Simplistic maybe, but still pretty. This copy IS correctly "not dated" on the front Jacket.
SPIRIT "Son of Spirit" 1975 LP; SEALED; Original Mercury Pressing.
THE SUNSHINE COMPANY "Happy Is" 1967 LP: SEALED Original Pressing.
THE SUNSHINE COMPANY S/T, 1968 LP, SEALED Original Pressing.
PROCOL HARUM "Live W/ Edmonton Symphony Orchestra" 1972 SEALED LP; USA 1st Pressing.
THE ROLLING STONES UNDER MY THUMB/ I Just want to Make Love to You 7" 45 1968 JAPAN; LONDON Label. Beautiful disc & Pic Sleeve.
THE ROLLING STONES JUMPIN' JACK FLASH/ Child of the Moon 1968 7" 45 FRENCH DECCA 79025. Beautiful disc & Pic Sleeve.
THE HUMAN BEINZ Nobody But Me CAPITOL ST 2906 USA LP Original Pressing PROMO - SEALED.
THE ZOMBIES "The Time of the Zombies" 2LP 1979 SEALED.
Morton Subotnick "Silver Apples of the Moon" SEALED LP electronic MOOG; original pressing on Nonesuch Label; 1968 - Electronica commissioned by the Nonesuch Label.
LISTENING CENTER "Cycles and other Phenomena" DD.
COSMIC GROUND "Deadlock" DD.
THE CLASH "Rat Patrol from Fort Bragg" listed as Germany, 1983; 2LP set; very nice.

And a few sealed OST and assorted singles. Below are (2) Rolling Stones examples 1968, and "Miss Butters", also 1968.

(The weekend; Not many recordings, but all really nice; I almost always buy (anything) on Tower Label recordings, (along with a few other labels). The "Eclection" EP is a very Obscure recording, and came from a reliable source in a Unique Picture Sleeve to Portugal; as did every recording arrive in a Pic Sleeve Unique to that country). I used the images sent to me.

Just a few items, spares and Samplers, along with a few newer interesting recordings, many from a supply of "new old stock" from a Woolworth's Store! These Woolworth's stores were in small towns and larger cities all across America at one time; In one little store in a very small town, I bought some of the first LP's I ever purchased with my collection in mind, there in a small rack; the last LP I bought there was "Talking Heads" 1st LP, "Fear of Music". These stores have been gone for some time.
A weirdly inevitable sort of purchase came along "for the last time", since for literally decades I've seen copies of "Every Mother's Sons Back", in all types of shops; (a sort of "repulsively wholesome" attempt created by MGM) with the purpose to avoid music that was deemed too tripped out.......(so I saw and bought their two likely less than memorable sealed LPs anyway, just for the collection). The Philip Glass/ Wilson Box Set is a set from The Netherlands, (4) Dutch Pressings & booklet - the "NEW" item from this warehouse. I used the images sent to me. I was very happy to find these (and yet more) WHO singles (sealed or new), all put away carefully for all these years. (Even if you are not a WHO fan, I found this YouTube video of "Dogs, Part 2", which, if you like Dogs, you'll likely agree this video is pretty good - with some natural, Happy, doggy talent).

A few more assorted items; NOS from a Music Warehouse - sealed up and preserved beautifully for 40+ years. It is a Time Machine Effect, certainly; to see & hear USA 7" singles that sound wonderful; there was a lapse in this when the CD was thrust upon us, and vinyl, (new vinyl releases), often suffered; there had been a decade of sonic decline as it was. As many WHO singles as I have been fortunate to find over time, it is wonderful to again come across these "new-old-stock" discs from the USA; most will be "spares"; w/ (1) enjoyed for the sound. Very few of the singles had Pic Sleeves, just company sleeves. Still, I feel fortunate enough to have obtained (2) copies of each of these few singles from this source. I was also glad to find this "new" copy of Chicago, I always liked that single, maybe because I have never worn a watch. :D

1). THE LION IN WINTER, (OST).1968; Sealed Columbia LP. OS 3250; "Enhanced Stereo". PROMO COPY
2). THE BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER KWAI , (OST). 1963; Sealed LP; Stereo. PROMO COPY
3). ASSORTED singles by THE WHO
...........The WHO, "The Seeker" b/w "HERE FOR MORE" DECCA USA - 1970 ORIGINAL 7" 45rpm, "New"; (NOS)
...........The WHO, "Magic Bus" b/w "SOMEONE'S COMING", DECCA USA - 1968 ORIGINAL 7" 45rpm, (NOS)
...........The WHO, "Call me Lightning" b/w "DR. JEKYLL & MR HYDE", DECCA USA - 1968 ORIGINAL 7" 45rpm, (NOS) - ......................... (CUT OUT - "BB" Hole in Label)
4). CHICAGO "Does Anybody Really Know What Time it Is?"/ "Listen" USA Columbia; 1969 ORIGINAL 7" 45rpm, (NOS)
...........from the LP "The Chicago Transit Authority".

I always watch and pay attention to this thread; I found a 3-LP set called "RTZ" of Six Organs of Admittance; a sort of recap of music over the years. The Idea and description were very inviting, and the single sounded interesting, too.

These three were listed above, but since they have such nice Pic Sleeves, and since these vintage Rolling Stones are rarely seen in a "New" state after all these years, I thought I would share them. This Dealer has NEVER failed me (yet); and always amazes me with the quality and obscurity of the recordings he sends. It has taken years to find such people; often in the "old fashion" write-a-letter-method. We are fortunate to have Honest folks on this very SITE who likewise are always 100% PLUS. I am disappointed that the images were not better; I think the heavy protective plastics I use affect the color, sometimes very much so; the reds and pinks are attenuated in depth of color, just as Mylar-like protectants darken, and the printing often suffers; but the overall image is well, the best I am able to reproduce, and I think still worth it. Wish it were better.

I have recently obtained some very Beautiful Examples of THE WHO and THE ROLLING STONES; at least I know there are STONES fans on this SITE, and I thought some of you might enjoy examples of Pic Sleeves of some very Prime Examples; I will not show all I was fortunate to obtain; but they are truly excellent examples, and many are still SEALED. "Peerless" is THE Mexico Record Label; I have a few Peerless 78rpm discs, and a few still sealed LPs. These Singles and EPs from Mexico are not in an "ordinary" sleeve, but are placed with a wrap-around-sleeve that is sealed in a plastic Sleeve and then placed in at least (1) more Sleeve. All of these, regardless of Origin, arrived in monstrously thick, heavy sleeves and were obviously very well taken care of; and I am delighted to have obtained them from a Collector who cares about Music. I removed them from these sleeves, obviously that did their job for many years, and replaced them, and added acid-free boards to protect each set enclosed, whether sealed or not.

At least one Japanese "Compact 800" Series 33 1/3rpm disc (800 Yen) is shown with Obverse AND Reverse, since the Japanese not only present Quality Vinyl and Packaging, but very often show art or photographs "not allowed"; like Jagger giving the finger. Big Deal you say? Heretic. Anyway, I hope you enjoy these; I chose a bigger "handful" than I ultimately used here; but I DO enjoy seeing the Artwork, and I know many of you do as well. So I will just place a few down below.
In addition to Quality and so forth, the Japanese also often give interesting examples in Translation, i.e., "Let it Breed".

Just a Few more examples, ending with first, a Mexican "Peerless" Label, a copy from Holland and lastly a Spanish Release; DECCA ME 342 - this has a nice "texture" to the sleeve that does not show up very well. To think of "mass production", of a sort, anyway; for none of these are exceptionally numerous, is to lose a little bit of color and placement and some, "extra" tangible quality that is very nice to see.

Some very exceptional examples; some NOS 7" discs; the most "impressive" for me is the NOS Eclection EP: no doubt one of the most obscure and overlooked - yet the Portuguese presented a BEAUTIFULLY made Textured EP unique to their country w/ a wonderful pressing. From this Band's ONLY s/t LP; Like so much Psychedelia, was very much enjoyed by The Norse countries, who obtained their recordings from the Portuguese in this case. (2) More Exceptional 7" Singles from THE WHO; and a nice mix of other wonderful recordings. The (3) Picture Sleeves shown have VERY Heavy pressings; V Nice. (It is an odd effect, the Eclection Textured EP looks "dark" in natural light, but has a "sort of dirty look" when the image is made; perhaps due to the 3D surface and the Protective Sleeve. It is interesting to see many of these "live", and then see various artifacts when they are imaged for the computer). LONG ago I stopped taking images in various Mylar(s), which distort and darken, even if THAT particular type is relatively clear to the naked eye.

1). Silver Apples; LP; original 1968 s/t (spare)
2). Humble Pie; "Rock and Roll" w/ "Scored Out Sister" 7" 45 PORTUGAL A&M Label MONO Unique PS

5). ECLECTION; 7" 45 EP; PORTUGAL (mislabeled as "The Eclection"); 1968 NOS MONO; Unique PS; V Obscure (sp)

1). Six Organs of Admittance; LTD ED Cassette Tape (!) released 2013 in Box; RECORDED May 22, 2002;
......(SAME MUSIC on both sides). I think of "ROIR", once a Cassette Only Label out of NYC, now MUCH of the Original Catalogue is AVAILABLE on BOTH CD and/ or VINYL! (I thought they were gone). ROIR "say Roar"; were originally mainly Punk and No Wave; but added several other musical genre. The First Cassette I bought from them was in 1979-80, "The Shox Lumania at The Peppermint Lounge". Wild and Weird!

Below is "1000 Birds"; from the Boxed Tape pictured.

2). THE WHO "Long Live Rock"/ "Put the Money Down" STEREO JAPANESE Pressing on TRACK Label; 1974 (from "Odds and Sods") w/ Inserts and Pic Sleeve.
3). PETER SELLERS & Leigh Taylor-Young; 1968 OST LP "I Love You Alice B. Toklas" GERMAN PRESSING; Promo - REVIEW COPY; SEALED. w/ Elmer Bernstein; "Harpers Bizarre" sang the Title track from the film; but the Jacket is very weak on info - photo's mainly. A few items.

COLOSSAL YES / SIX ORGANS OF ADMITTANCE (split) 7" WOOD COVERED w/ Cloth; new. No Song Listing; Limited to 350 Pressings on the Dulcitone Label.

POSTERs: (I obtained [2 copies])
"I Love You Alice B. Toklas" YUGOSLAVIA 1968 Peter Sellers w/ Leigh Taylor-Young; After smoothing, & matted and & framed - these will be very nice. Similar to the "YouTube" Image, above.Translation reads "I Loved (the) Hippie Girl".

BARRY McGUIRE "EVE OF DESTRUCTION" / "WHAT EXACTLY IS THE...." 1965 *RCA VICTOR 1469* NOS in RCA Sleeve; UK Pressing. I remember first hearing this on the car radio while my mom went shopping; I nearly ALWAYS stayed in the car so I could listen to the Radio, even when I was very, very short. New "Orthophonic" Recording.

CONNIE FRANCIS "MY THANKS TO YOU" [SEALED] LP 1959 Early Stereo MGM RECORDS SE 3776; This is the 1962 Release.
It was hard to pass up such a beautifully preserved (1962) Stereo Copy sealed, she was in that last so-called "Golden Era of Pop Idols"; and talented and as wholesome as can be. I am admittedly a little disappointed that it is not the 1st 1959 release as I had thought, but it is difficult to find even these (later) 1962 (2nd) reissues in "as new, Sealed" condition, so it will just have to do. It is "True Stereo" from MGM; I don't have all that many True Stereo "pre-1965 examples" that are still sealed; so many are "Electronically Rechanneled" to create a "Stereo" effect.
