'In the Garden' & the Drifters Sympathy podcast got me digging into Holy Sons' back catalogue, but a couple of other things too:

Moon Duo - Occult Architecture vol 1
Lift to Experience - Texas Jerusalem Crossroads (2xLP reissue)
Holy Sons - The Fact Facer
Holy Sons - Fall of Man
Grails - Chalice Hymnal (pre-order)

Duke Garwood - Garden Of Ashes
Jennifer Castle - Pink City
Ariel Pink & Weyes Blood - Myths 002 EP
The Pheromoans - Hearts Of Gold
Hey Colossus - Black & Gold

How's the new Moon Duo album treating those that have it so far? I normally snap up their stuff when it comes out but have hesitated this time around as it's not really grabbing me. More of the same but with more synths and a 'cold wave' vibe but it's not hitting like their earlier releases. plods a bit, for me anyway. Lovely sleeve though.

Loving it myself Johnny, only 7 tracks but for me at least, 5 of them are absolute corkers and some of their best work, I`m not hearing plodding, more pounding If I`m being honest. The new drummer is working out a treat, roll on the UK tour 8)

They're always great live, whipping up a danceable storm. I've listened to the new album a few times via their bandcamp page but still not convinced overall. Could be a case of having all of their previous stuff and feeling ok about that.......until Occult clicks or something. I was playing Mazes the other day, one of my favourites of theirs, Killing Time EP too.

I love it too. Maybe I'd reached a fatigue point earlier than you did, as I never bought Shadow of the Sun. But to me it's a definite return to form, and their best studio work for quite some time.

(I've not listed in some time; these are by now, "olde acquisitions").

"Forbidden Planet" OST, 1956; sealed; "Small Planet Records"; LP. USA.

"The Slits" French 7" Box Set; 1979; similar to the "Smell of Female" Promo Box sold at Concerts, but in a different Artwork Box on black vinyl only; sealed; (4) single set. Autographed w/ Promo Sheets in French. France.

"Scandals of 1933" w/ Rudy Vallée; 12" 78rpm shellac; Picture Label; RCA. USA. very nice.

"David Bowie"; a 10 DVD Video Set; Promo; (says ISOLAR) but a "ROIO"; Box & 5 page booklet. NYC.

A Collection of Photographs, mostly 8" x10" of the 1920's Musical Stars, including a Cyril Smith, often worked live with a variety of bands in the 1920's & 1930's. Photos From all over the Globe.

"New Recordings of 1934 - on Columbia" Listing of the "latest" in every genre. USA

The Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour" Booket - (2) 7" EPs; still sealed in a Woolworths Package. This is the 1st time I've found (or seen this packaged in this way) - a UK Booklet & Pressing.

This is a beautifully packaged piece from as yet unreleased music from David Bowie's "BLACKSTAR". It saddens me when I think of him gone; this recording will remain a very special addition. White Vinyl, with etching on side 2, and a Print of an image I'm sure many of us have seen. Diecut Jacket. 2017. "No Plan" 12" EP, UK.

“No Plan” is hailed by Rolling Stone—who ranked it #4 in their 50 Best Songs of 2016 – as "a magnificent coda… one last transmission from the Bowie universe.”

Image

"This is a made to order one-time-run of a numbered die-cut package featuring heavyweight 180g exclusive WHITE vinyl with special laser etching on side B PLUS 12x12” artwork lithograph. The No Plan vinyl includes the three final David Bowie studio recordings during the sessions for his 28th and final album, ★, “No Plan,” “Killing A Little Time” and “When I Met You”— along with ★ single and Cast Album title track “Lazarus”— housed in new artwork plus exclusive lithograph designed by longtime collaborator Jonathan Barnbrook".

Marielle V Jakobsons - Star Core
Leyland Kirkby - V/VM: The Death Of Rave (A Partial Flashback)
Leyland Kirkby - Sadly, The Future Is No Longer What It Was
Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked At Me (preorder)
RM Hubbert - Recovery EP1

I'd recommend the Marielle V Jakobsons album to fans of Spaceman and Sonic's more drone, ambient-based excursions - I hear lots of Spz/Spectrum/EAR like tones in these songs, plus (as a reviewer pointed out) the bass is rather reminiscent of Will Carruthers' sound on LGM. Plus there's gorgeous violin and flute lines everywhere, which to me bring echoes of Sgt. Pepper, Henry Flynt and early Kraftwerk. Lovely stuff :)

Eat Lights Become Lights- Nature Reserve LP Deep Distance
Space & time A Compendium Of The Orange Alabaster Mushroom Lp Feral Child

Peter Jeffries- Electricity reissue 2 LP Superior Viaduct
Dean & Britta- 13 Most Beautiful 2 LP Wouldn't Waste
International Submarine Band- Safe At Home RSD LP Sundazed
Danny Woods- Aires Lp

Gotta give it up to Dom at Deep Distance & Feral Child. He continues to release one remarkable Lp after another. I just wish more N. Americans would figure this out. So much great music being overlooked.

Carl Perkins - Brown Eyed Handsome Man - brilliant album, reminiscent of the great 70's era Link Wray except with high end production. absolutely recommend.

Red Crayola 7" - Hurricane Fighter Plane (Sonic Boom Remix) / Pink Stainless Tail - yeah this is great for sure, can't believe someone traded this in. it's one of those nicely packaged RSD releases on colored vinyl.

The Golden Dawn - Power Plant - friends of the 13th Floor Elevators and were on the same label, great recommendation from the owner of the record shop. not the same caliber as the Elevators but damn good, amazed that they aren't better known.

New Order 12" - True Faith Remix / 1963 / True Dub - never seen or heard of it, for $4 couldn't go wrong.

Third Bardo 10" EP - I'm Five Years Ahead of My Time - finally, had to order this one from the record shop, well worth the wait. on lovely red vinyl.

Bob Marley and the Wailers - Rasta Revolution - ahhh the Lee Perry production. I absolutely love this era of Marley.

Paul Simon - Self Titled - what can I say i'm a sucker for this album, sublime guitar work here.

this is a really good album, they were playing it in my local record store and I ended up walking out with the copy. Not sure how I missed this back in 2010. Sonic's production on some of the tracks is brilliant. Apparently the digital release has quite a few additional tracks.

Yeah, i've had the digital release for years and it is brilliant, but had never got round to getting a vinyl copy.

A friend of mine, who was having a bit of a financial crisis, was selling some records. He had resigned himself to getting next to fuck all from the local record stores (the usual) so, when i heard that this was in the pile he was taking, i almost bit his hand off for it.

I helped him out by giving him a much better price for it than he'd have got selling it to a store and i get a great great album! Win-win!

Queens of The Stone Age- Rated R (expanded edition) (quite like a bit of QOTSA, one of my preferred heavy bands)
Jimi Hendrix- Live at Winterland boxset. (4 discs of prime live Hendrix, including some rarely played songs, not just yet more versions of Purple Haze. yay!)
Comsat Angels- Waiting for a Miracle
Trees- The Garden of Jane Delawney

Verve- A Storm In Heaven
Tame Impala- Live Versions

Bought an original copy of Recurring just over a week ago but its not arrived yet and seller is non-communicado! Feeling that this might the second time i've been ripped off on eBay this year! Not fucking cool seller. Just as fuckin well i don't know where you live.

Waiting to arrive:

Cult Of Dom Keller - Paradiso Is On Fire (New live album from Cardinal Fuzz. After two fabulous live shows in Glasgow last year, i'm really keen to hear if its captured their live sound. From what i can gather, it has so excited for this!)
Darkside - Melomania (Picture disc LP. Another one scored off my To Replace list.)

Will probably splurge on some more vinyl since its my birthday this week, but will have to wait and see what i fancy.

Four Cardinal Fuzz releases which unfortunately have got lost in transit

As it's the only label I collect and have bought everything from day one this is particularly hard to take. The Cardinal is sorting me out but it seems I will be missing one record when all is said and done.

Anyone else ever have records not arrive? This is the fourth occasion in my record buying life that packages haven't shown up.

Previous losses have included two Heads releases (one bought from the band and replaced by them, the other off Discogs and given other items instead) and a Mary Chain white label that I'd been searching for for years, bought on ebay, shipped from the states, which was also refunded.

I had a bunch of stuff go missing at the house we rented in Wavertree. I got refunds from the sellers and documented the losses, complained to the Royal Mail and was later told that one permanent member of staff was dismissed after being charged with theft. A couple of casual staff also got the bullet, but I don't know if they were charged. I never did get the records though some of which were impossibly difficult to track down back in 2011/12 and are enormously more expensive now

check out this great live session by Angel Olsen. annoyingly she doesn't play Sister though, would have been great to have a live version in this quality!
I like the room where this station records live sessions. all the lights are much nicer than the usual radio session where it looks like they set up in the broom cupboard!

I'd have to say that the KEXP youtube shows are great at promoting non mainstream bands/artists. I've listened to Angel Olsen, Sleaford Mods and now King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard perform there before purchasing albums.

I found this one at the local record store:

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Nonagon Infinity

And this one I purchased from Amazon.com

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Flying Microtonal Banana

ALA.NI - You & I

From Rollingstone.com:

"A startlingly intimate album that places the smoke-plume voice of this West London-born singer front and center, You and I blends stripped-down bedroom-pop aesthetics with haunting songs that recall mid-20th-Century pop in their sweeping melodicism. Ala.Ni'st touch and gorgeously wrought instrument help songs like the mournful "Darkness at Noon" and the wistful "I Remember" float – or, really, hover, the way late-night regrets might."

I splurged tonight at Amazon.com, mostly due to the Acetone thread in music, which led me to listen to their four albums on YouTube the last few days.

Acetone - Cindy, If You Only Knew, S/T, York Blvd. For some reason Allmusic.com rated them all at 4 out of 5 stars, except S/T which they only rate at 2 stars. It sounded fine to my ears. If You Only Knew was the only one I had to buy used. It cost over $50 for a new cd version.. So I hope it lives up to good rating condition given by the seller. I tried the iTunes route, but they only had S/T and York Blvd as well as the new compilation, which I not planning to buy quite yet. I would love to get my hands on that book. I know it's been sold out for awhile now.

I also purchased Sketches of Brunswick East by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. This is their third album of 2017. They had previously mentioned that they might release 4 or 5 albums this year.
