We are floating in space
With George W's plans to put a base on the moon and man on Mars, I like to hope that one big spin off will be space tourism. Not wanting to sound like a 70's episode of Blue Peter, as a person from a working class background I think its a possibility that I might just hear "ladies and gentleman, we are in space," announced over a tannoy in my lifetime.
Is anyone else excited by this or is it one big election con?

I would love to travel in space, so I am kinda excited by it. I think though that the reasons Bush and co. are so keen to colonise Space are far more sinister than just the idea of space travel, which lets face it, we aren't likely to ever be able to afford in our lifetimes. Maybe the richest will, but I wouldn't think people like us would be able to afford it for at least a couple of generations. If they even manage to do it.
It's my belief that Bush and his ilk, (he'll be dead by the time they get there), colonising space would be just the excuse they're looking for to go on raping the planet we're living on at the moment, then just moving on to the next, leaving the poor to stay and suffer and die slowly on this one once it's natural (and profitable) resourses have run out and the atmosphere is too polluted to support human life. The money being spent on exploring the possibilities of space travel and colonisation would be far better spent on putting the perfectly decent planet we already live on in order.
It is more than an election con, it is scary and reeks of evil to me.

I remember when RR had a TV commercial with him riding a horse wearing cowboy garments. He was so cool..
Always believed the meaning of life and humanity is to colonise space.
If I were 6yrs old, american and allowed to vote he would get mine..
I´m also pro-genetic engineering in the long run (will help us when we live in space) hehe guess I like both Mengele and son of a Bush then huh?
