Watched it again last night. Better on second viewing but still feel disappointed.

Me, I was weaned on 80s comedies, and though my (and everyone's) interest in them waned in, I dunno, the late 80s, they still hold strong nostalgic appeal - and one of their key features was the fact that they slowed down in the midsection and came to a slightly unsatisfying, perhaps overblown, denouement. Not that I think the Simpsons Movie has this problem - the laugh level is fairly consistent throughout, dipping just-perceptibly once they get to Alaska - but rather, vestiges of it.

I'm like Evel Knievel, I get paid for the attempt. I didn't promise this shit would be good!

OK so maybe now I'm being persuaded. Seeing those quotes is making me giggle so maybe it was funnier than I remember...

OK somebody's already put "Spider Pig, Spider Pig, does whatever a Spider Pig does" but they forgot the next bit - "Can he hang from a lamp? No he can't, cos he's a pig"

I'm quite certain it's "can he swing/from a web?/No he can't - he's a pig." That would actually make sense.
