'Stars of the Lid' tour Europe

Post by Jebus Sabes »

Any fans of 'Stars of the Lid' on the board? An ambient/drone duo responsible for some achingly beautiful music.

Just in case you haven't heard, they are touring (for the first time in 5 years) Europe in November/December. Should be great - string quartet, some church venues.

FANTASTIC!!!!

I first heard them a year or so ago when i searching for new music online. Agree they have some beautiful sounds!

No confirmation of the Glasgow venue yet, but i'll be keeping my eyes peeled.

Saw them on friday night, veered between beautiful and dull, mostly the former though. The new songs sound alot better live than on the album (they had a 3 piece string section with them too)but i prefer their earlier work which i find to be more like Windy & Carl, who i think are great. Support came from Ulrich Schnauss who i'd only heard of never actually heard his music before. Not bad, i would've preferred if he'd either toughened up his beats or dumped them altogether as they were'nt really contributing much the way they were but in saying that i'll be checking out his stuff at some point soon.
Came away from the gig feeling like i needed a snooze, which is a good recommendation for an ambient drone outfit i'd say.
