Sian Alice Group

Post by SpacemanRob »

The album arrived today - gatefold sleeve & nice vinyl. God bless the exchange rate as cost was good.
The album '59.59' is really worth a listen. Didn't realise that Ben was a member but includes Douglas Hart & John Coxon.
Works on 2 distinct levels with songs such as 'Way Down To Heaven' offering a touch of Spz, Death In Vegas and the obligatory VU sound making them easy to love & then others being really sparse encapsulating maybe Monade and elements of Springheel.
An album that demands repeated listens and perfect for late night walks with an ambience verying between quite beautiful and then equally scary.
Just thanks for reminding me that music doesn't need to be 'full on' and should be something that slowly encapsulates your senses.
Thanks & well worth investing in.
Good to see that after the support at Shepherds Bush a band that delivers.

Hey Rob, that's a very endearing review you've written. Good blend of factual plus idiosyncracity. Congratulations and thanks for that.
I'd like to see a lot more of this kind of stuff on the board.

I'm off to take a punt on Sian Alice...

Respect to ya bus and Cheers

Thanks for the heads up on this band, had no idea who they were but have been listening to their tunes on myspace (I feel so dirty) for an hour now.

Cheers

Got a favourite Glyn...i'm liking Contours a lot...and on the website...the album on CD is cheaper than a bottle of tonic wine...with the xchange rate n all.

What is it now, one buckie for a dollar? Caffeinated alcohol, those Christians have alot to answer for.

Aye, Contours is my favourite at the moment. Where did you purchase from, The Social Registry?

Remember when you could pop down to Fopp and buy CDs, even ask for a discount if you spent over a ton, them were the days.

I'm kinda hoping that I can walk into mono on sunday afternoon and there will be a copy waiting for me.
At the minute i'm just rotating, like you, the 4 track on myspace.

Apparently there is still tonic to be had for under a fiver in Blantyre...

Way Down To Heaven has overtaken Contours, I'm a sucker for repetition.

You sayin' I be listenin' too redneck music, boy?

No, didn't catch it...but have often got a boppin' to lamar's doo-wop/be-bop show.

Have you ordered your copy of the cd? I'd be happy to pick up a spare for you on friday/sunday if that record shop has it.

Is your couch on the front lawn and do you feel an unnatural attraction to a female member of your family ... then you're a redneck.

So you are supporting Spz on U.K tour in May...?! If so, fantastic!!! :D

(The only downside is I'll miss both bands if I'm away...)
