What was #1 on the day you were born?

Post by Spiritinthesky »

Have you ever done this?

Some people believe our lives are profoundly influenced by whatever pop song was #1 on the day we were born.

On the day Heather Mills (the ex Mrs McCartney) was born (12th Jan 1968) it was Hello Goodbye by The Beatles!

My number #1's are:
'You're So Vain' by Carly Simon in the US
'Long Haired Lover From Liverpool' by Little Jimmy Osmond in the UK
'Ben' by Michael Jackson in Australia

See which songs you get

Age is just a number. I'll be turning the big 4-0 on September 13th. I still feel 19. And I never thought I'd see 29, so I'm pretty happy about that 8)

Come on Spzretent, DO IT :!:

Quality...I won't expand on the multitude of connotations.

Might be an idea (just to settle your mind) to work out what was number one on the day you were concieved...might make you giggle...might make you hurl.

UK: Bohemian Rhapsody: one of my pet musical hates- I have fallen out wit the Flaming Lips for ruining encores with this song.

Much more interesting, however, is the fact that Freddie Mercury died on my birthday 16 years later (cue twilight zone music), or maybe he died overnight while i was sleeping, either way it was the first thing I heard when I woke up that morning and it made my day because I fuckin hated that song so much! And now, thanks to this thread, I carry with me forever the knowledge that my birthday and Queen are somehow intrinsically connected...

...thank god for Australia- Mamma Mia....ABBA are my gulitiest pleasure

uk- When The Going Gets Tough The Tough Get Going - Billy Ocean

us- How Will I Know - Whitney Houston

oz- We Built This City - Starship

what a fun bunch- i think i've heard one of them. i like the way that under your song it has a button that says 'try again'. now that would be interesting...
'raging and weeping are left on the early road
now each in his holy hill
the glittering and hurting days are alomst done
then let us compare mythologies
i have learned my elaborate lie
of soaring crosses and poisened thorns'

I used to love Streets Of London as a kid. From memory it's a well sad accoustic protest song about big city poverty and the establishment's willing ignorance of it. Although I fear if I listened to it now I may find it a bit obvious and saccharine. Still, a tune to be proud of and worth a youtube search if you've never heard it.

Hahaha.

19/11/1988: 1988, Bon Jovi started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Bad Medicine', the group's third US No.1, a No.17 hit in the UK.
W: What are we supposed to do with that?
M: Eat it.
W: Eat it? Fucker’s alive.
