BANDS in LA needed

Post by Sonny Munns »

A friend of mine has a 6000sqft warehouse in which to have a big party walking distance from Chinatown and need bands to play. Ultimately he's trying to get something together for Halloween, but if this goes well, it could be a regular happening like the secret 6th Street Warehouse shows for those that have been. I'll be Djing and trying to find bands...i know many of you here play music. Could be out of towners too, but only if we start doing this regularly.
Thanks,
Grant

I''d be up for something like this. Can't quite make the Halloween deadline, but we're playing the Derby tomorrow night (the 29th). Here's our relevant links:

I live in Los Feliz and might be able to get out and see you tonight, Chris. What time do you go on?

Thanks! How was the show Chris?
Any photos or audio?
Glad to see you are doing music that you enjoy. The last time I played (well I didn't actually play) at the Derby, the back door was closed and I had to carry my amp up the front stairs (this was a couple months ago). The trip up the stairs messed something up in my amp, I blew out the power for the Derby, and they weren't very nice about it. I plugged in on the other side of the stage (which bummed me out because I wanted to use the piano) and blew out the power on that side of the stage as well. Haha. They kept making it seem like it was my fault. They were acting like Highway Patrol, "WHAT ARE YOU ON!?" That was pretty funny. It may have been my amp, but I figure it's the sound guys job to at least know how to fix a fuse if something goes wrong. Especially because most of the people there were there to see us. The sound in there is pretty cool though! So you had fun?

I should have gone. I was attempting to take it easy as I had to get up for work at 7 today, but I ended up drinking beer and watching TV until 12 at night, so I totally could have made your show. I was a little shaken up after watching a motorcycle accident on Hillhurst and Melbourne, so there was no way that I was going to get into my car after a couple beers.

The show was great... This was our second time playing the back bar area and for the minimal equipment there (basic PA, no monitors) the sound is always great and there's usually a good crowd of people there. They seemed to be running late though and the set times were short... We ended up having to cut three songs.

There's a photo/short review from last night here:

But there's a ton of previous photos here:

When is your next gig?

Thanks Chris, do look forward to checking it all out.

I don't plan on playing live anytime soon, working on some recording projects which I'm excited about completely.

Hey Grant, We'd be interested in playing in the future. Finally be able to share a bill? You know where to find me. Talk soon, Bo

Ok, looks like we might be planning a legit one the saturday after thanksgiving, the 29th. Figure everyone will be anxious to get out and away from the family at that point.
We'd be happy to have any of you (Chris, Shonn, and Bo, so far) play, let me know if you are up for it.
Sorry Shonn and Bo, I'd love to share a bill with either bands finally, but I left Cat Fur. I play in another band, but wouldn't be the right fit...or would it.
Anyway, looking to get something else going...it hard to find people on the same page...and that can play.................not saying that I can, but i'm just a lowly bass player.......
