Is this true Orbie?! I 'm never completely sure if you're just joking or not... but if it is- then huge congratulations!!! I have pretty strong views on how women automatically seem to get custody of children. I don't think it's neither fair nor healthy. There are plenty of fathers that are as suited or better suited to take care of their kids. Had my parents divorced when I was a child I would have wanted to go with my dad. One of the reasons my father stuck around when their relationship was on the rocks was precisely this reason. There was no way to take me with him... Anyway, hope my post isn't too personally or inappropriate. I just feel very strongly about this issue.:D

Yes it's true, Sunny. :D

I have a bit of a hangover today

I have a control freak of an ex who wont let go and uses her son to try and exert some control. She stopped contact between me and son for nearly 6 months earlier this year for nothing more than her own kicks. Its pathetic. I will never forget the look on his wee face on the first visit after i got an order to resume the contact.

The courts seem to agree and think it's best for him to spend much more time with dad than she obviously does :D

I am soooo happy.

The struggle continues.....

Bza. Yeh, let's get togeether real soon. Always a blast.

Stuff like that makes me ashamed of my own gender...I'm sure both men and women are capable of controlling behavior and/or vindictiveness, using children as pawns... but I must say that your story sounds all too familiar. I have had many male friends face the same situation. It's a disgrace!

I'm very happy to hear you got more time with your boy-here's to more success!!! :D

Orbie - I am so pleased for you. I also feel very strongly on this and find the use of children as a way of getting at an ex-partner beneath contempt. I know people who have been in similar situations to you - great dads too - and the ultimate victim in the end is always the child.

Good on you!

Thanks for the support , folks.

It is a real shame that sometimes this path must be the one taken. In this situation it is the right way to go. I walked on eggshells for 4 years to do whatever it took to avoid this.

This brings more stabillity to my son's life. Above his mother's feelings and my own that is paramount. Pity she doesnt see it that way. No harm to her. She will move on eventually. When?...who knows.

Yeh Shonn...You did. Bugger! I will return the favour soon, I promise.

Congratulations.
Been there, done it and nearly caused a massacre in doing so.
Time will tell - the truth will always out.

Enjoy each other.

Best
