Hope they'll let him in - Mr Kember has had his hair cut short again and now looks about fifteen years old.

I can vouch for the engineers, saw them in liverpool before christmas, and they're worth a listen. Took me right back to 1992...in a good way.

they're amazing. saw them at the barfly last year. sounded massive for such a pokey little venue and projected 'koyanaqaatsi' behind them which looked pretty cool.

Get ready to party like it’s 1991 to classic shoegazing sounds from the Velvets to the Valentines to Ulrich Schnauss as the SONIC CATHEDRAL opens its doors for worship for the fourth time. There’s an exclusive live performance from LA-based space-rockers AUTOLUX (whose superb debut album ‘Future Perfect’ is released on July 18) and DJing by EROL ALKAN (check out the ‘Bugged In Selection’ disc of his recent double-CD mix album, it’s shoe-tastic), EMMA ANDERSON (of Lush and Sing-Sing fame) and some very special SURPRISE GUESTS.

now we're going on the road to OXFORD!

Post by soniccathedral »

SONIC CATHEDRAL is going on the road. In a neat reversal of the lyrics to ‘Twisterella’ we’re getting on the bus and going up the M40 to party like it’s 1991 among the dreaming spires of Oxford. The night features exclusive live performances from ENGINEERS and MARK GARDENER & GOLDRUSH, plus surprise guest DJs playing classic shoegazing sounds from the Velvets to the Valentines to Ulrich Schnauss.

Get ready to party like it’s 1991 to classic shoegazing sounds from the Velvets to the Valentines to Ulrich Schnauss as the SONIC CATHEDRAL opens its doors for worship on JOHN PEEL DAY, Thursday October 13. Appropriately, there’s a very rare live outing for JIM REID, former frontman of Peel favourites The Jesus And Mary Chain, plus one of the first UK appearances from Australia’s THE MORNING AFTER GIRLS. On the decks are THE TELESCOPES, who have promised some Peel treats, and some very special SURPRISE GUESTS.

How does this shit work? Do they just think 'I wonder if Spiritualized fans would like some hooker furniture and the chance to date married women on line?'? Or does it all happen electronically and just floats through the infomation super-highway until it settles on any old forum?

BLOCK THE FORUM FOR 'GUESTS'! OR IT'LL GET HACKED INTO LITTLE PIECES AGAIN!

i propose that all future members take part in a little 'Spiritualized quiz', so it can be determined whether they are suitable or not. And perhaps a bi-annual one for existing members. All relatively informal of course.

the quiz was a joke.
Serious about the blocking 'guests' though. I'm assuming the mods can get the IP's for any member, then trace report or block them if they mess stuff up...

That's trickier than it sounds.

Yes we can trace IP addresses, but last year when something suspicious appeared and was looked into about a dozen regular users were listed as having posted from the same address. This caused considerable confusion and suggested that the IP trace was somewhat fallible.

Blocking 'guest' posts is a reasonable idea though. It stops idiots such as we've had here and also prompts welcome regulars to log in when they've forgotten to. I'll certainly bring it up with the other guys.
