I think I've prattled on about this being one of my favourite ever Spacemen 3 recordings before. it's awesome.
I was trying to find the original version and got a bit confused. Bo Diddley's original seems to be called 'I'm Alright' on his live Beach Party album. it seems a bit strange that the Spacemen would cover a song from a fairly obscure live recording.
or is it just a kind of 'variation on a theme'? (I've also seen She's Alright on tracklistings)
can anybody shed any light?

My guess is that the Spacemen were more familiar with the Rolling Stones cover.

Re: It's Alright
you simply have to get bo's beach party - it's an absolute riot. seriously one of the greatest live albums you'll ever hear.
i think it got re-issued a couple of years back too so should be in pristine form.
i have an old scratchy copy of it somewhere's i'll have to have a good old hunt for it. don't hold your breath tho..
i got to meet bo a few years ago & wanted to ask him about it. but he was p old & tired & out of it after a show, was just a meet & greet & didn't get to spend much time w/him. he was in good form tho. doubt he'd have known about some kids from rugby playing his jams.. so many people have covered him he'd prob long since lost count.
great cover. they take it to a different level than the stones did.

Jack's comment reminded me of what Mark E Smith's comments about meeting Bo Diddley.

thanks for the links guys. that live recording is pretty cool stuff! it might just be the lofi recording but it really sounds wild and 'in the red'. I really like the sleeve too.
