And that one to the left of it looks a lot like "The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys" by Traffic.

I remember reading somewhere about how John Cusack set up the record store down to the last little sticker on the wall. The records you see on screen are placed there because John Cusack wants you to see them. Probably 2% of the people who saw the movie knew the covers, and I feel like it's John Cusack's own little nod to all us "fucked up children".

i think that it's interesting that in the book he's into his blues etc but in the film he's into post punk/velvets kind of thing

I've not seen this film. Is it worth watching?

I enjoyed the book. For the film they moved the setting to the USA which robbed it of some fun / geekiness. There's something special about trawling around UK dour dusty record shops!

yeah. cusack really brings the character to life. it was my first exposure to hornby and i've loved other ones of his books that i've read. some slate the film but i for one enjoyed nearly as much as the book.

For one who has not read the book, I very much enjoyed it.

Yeah, better to crush him against the Traffic LP instead, it's not all that great.

The cool thing: those "movie props" like the background records, are all carefully chosen. Whoever did it, did their homework!

funny how they picked the stereolab side project (turn on) for this shot as well... it's the yellow one behind the traffic LP. I remember watching this moving saying "got that one...want that one...". etc. The major disappointment I had in the movie was that the cut the scene with Beverly D'Angelo who played the spurned wife selling her cheating husband's collection which was my most memorable moment of the book. I'm sure that fear will keep many of us on the straight and narrow in all of our cohabitual relationships.
