Spacemen 3 U.S '89 tour posters

It's fairly unlikely you'd have made it here without ever having heard of Jason's previous incarnation. So here you go, talk away...

Spacemen 3 U.S '89 tour posters

Post by runcible »

I wonder how many people have a copy of one of the posters that were printed for the cancelled 1989 tour.

This is the pink one:

Anyway, a collectors shop in Leeds has one of the gold ones (can't find an image of one on the web), nicely framed but they want £300! I spoke to them about it and they were adamant this was the right price. Fuck me - there is a set of 4 different colours of these (although the yellow one is for PWF rather than the tour). I have them framed on the wall beside each other at home and they look awesome together. Is it the Spacemen value? The fact that Kozik made them? Crazy prices!

Quality item.

I would suggest there is no 'right' price. Only the price that someone is willing to pay. The fact that the one in Leeds is still for sale suggests that £300 is too high. I 'd be tempted at £50-£70 framed, but no higher.

It's only just appeared in there. We'll see if they can sell it. The guy did say the frame cost £60 but that's still way too much for the poster.

Incidentally I had loads of these at one point - about 12 of each colour and I'm pretty sure I used to sell them for a tenner each - £20 max! I should have sat on some.

i used to sell them for $15.99 in my shop. I should have hoarded more. way better than the stock market.
that gold poster is no way a $450 poster framed or not.

Sign me up. I've got that same poster, signed and in a cheap black metal frame. It is in a closet somewhere, as I don't have a proper "man cave" to display it.

Those posters look good on any wall - they are absolutely stunning. Mine are on the living room wall. Might try and get a snap of them and stick it on here as they look amazing together.

I have the yellow one for the album. It's framed and on my dining room wall next to a Kozik poster for an E.A.R. gig. Both are gorgeous. My brother has the gold one, I believe. And I know I got mine from a certain Play It Again Records :D ...

Peace.

Kozik didn't make them. Coop did.

Yeah I realised that but never updated this bit. Kozik also did some sleeves for Pete K didn't he?

That's right. Pete's side of that is a really underrated track. Am I right in thinking Man's Ruin is Kozik's label? The Heads released a compilation on that which is fantastic.

I think Man's Ruin is Kozik's alright. Wasn't Delta the first release on it? Think i bought it off you as a matter of fact. :) Always loved Kozik's version of Mechanical Man, really hits the spot.

They look pretty cool all together. Not a great shot but you get the idea I'm sure.

i just bought a set of these on ebay, and the guy threw in a fifth poster which is just like the yellow PWF poster, except that the yellow and red are reversed, does anyone know what the deal with that is, it is smaller than the other 4 it doesnt have the excess white paper around the sides...

I've never heard of this. All the Spacemen posters I got came directly from Pete K - I had masses of all these Coop posters and never had the extra one. Is it signed and numbered by the artist? Any chance of a scan and post on here? And finally the inevitable question - how much did you pay for the set?

Hiya, it isnt signed or numbered, to me it seems like maybe a test print from coop to see if he liked how the colors looked (maybe??), i paid $200 for the set of 4 and the guy threw that poster in with it( so i guess it would be like $40 bucks a piece), i will try and take a picture of the poster today and post it...
