probably beaten to death but since it's a new forum...
i'd have to say 'come down easy' right now.. the way it just rolls out of the end of 'things'll never etc' is great. always find myself singing the 'it's nineteen eighty seven' lines too!
There was a time when it was 'Come Down Easy', it still brings back the best memories. I really love 'Let Me Down Gently', 'So Hot' and 'That's Just Fine' but reckon my absolute favourite is 'Ode to Street Hassle'.
Come Together Full volume does it for me or for when im in a calmer mood Just to see you smile but its got to be the single version which is longer and more minimal than the recurring version just gorgeous
For me, there's is no song that churns my insides up more than the PWF version of 'So Hot' - beautiful, minimal and sung with conviction. The only other one that comes close is 'Angel' on Sonic's allbum Spectrum.
Amongst many "sometimes" and "bill whizz" have always stood out. IMHO recurring was an amazing album (both sides) that never seems to get as much mention as it deserves.

Agreed Wholeheartedly. I've always loved this album, and might even rank tracks 9 onward as my second favorate spiritualized album. For a time I used to automatically go straight to track 9 ignoring Sonic's side. But I realised my mistake soemtime ago. That too is really very good. I prefer it to his other spectrum work. My only regret with recurring is that the tremendous original of these blues never made it on there. Can't for the life of me understand why.
Although there are songs on both sides of Recurring that are utter bliss,
I have a hard time of justifiying that to be a true Spacemen 3 album.
Hyptnotized, Set Me Free, and Feelin' Just Fine are excellent though.....
Losing Touch With My Mind
Suicide
Revolution
Hey Man (Amen)
Mary Anne
Things'll Never Be the Same
all of the above are what I think of when I think of Spacemen 3
Transperent Radiation is great tooo, but I've never heard the album 'recurring' I still can't find it - why can't they rerelease it? (contracts etc probably).
let me down gently ..........cos it is so simple yet sounds so complex .....also the subject of let me down gently im sure everyone has felt at some point in their lives
Well well well, I recently picked up the SP3, Walking w/ Jesus, it has a very child-like-nursery-rhyme vibe to it. Its a 7" w/ this very appropriate swirled orange and grey vinyl.
Have to say thats back to being my favorite. Or the Asteroid #4 cover, absolutely tight.
come down easy has always been my favourite i think. those guys who were talking about recurring are right too. a brilliant album. wish they'd re-release it as my cd's a bit knackered!
Good shout - "Guitar Voodoo" is a fantastic track. That rumbling bass as the intro to their live set - wow.
Favourite Spacemen track - Revolution. That's today's choice, tomorrow's could be any one of about a dozen others (rarely stays the same for more than a day).
When Tomorrow Hits
Hey Man
Comedown softly to my soul
so hot (wash away all of my tears)
but there all great really i mean ecstacy syphomny is fantastic loosing touch with my mind is brilliant Lord can you hear me and walking with jesus are beautiful
can't believe no one's mentioned 'lord can you hear me' yet, way prefer that to the LICD version. either 'let me down gently' or 'feel so good' would be my fave SP3 track. someone called sonic147 said 'come together' on full volume was their fave track - did the spacemen also have a come together song?
- transparent radiation
- sometimes
- billy whizz / blue 1
- i love you
- starship
- lord can you hear me
...quite possibly in that order.
I'll also put my hand up for Recurring - I'd even go as far as to say that it pretty much tops Perfect Prescription as my favourite Spacemen album. Such a huge pity that there wasn't any inter-band collaboration on the tracks, though...
I agree. Despite everything Recurring hangs well together as a record. Feeling Just Fine and Billy Whizz work so well together. Doesn't get much better than that.
How come nobody has picked rollercoaster, especially the live version from perfomance. Its definitintley in my top five along with Revoloution, transparent radiation, Mary Anne and Come down easy.
