Spectrum News

It's fairly unlikely you'd have made it here without ever having heard of Jason's previous incarnation. So here you go, talk away...

@Laz69

Magnificent.

Good find. A good song is a good song is a good song, I have been listening to various versions of Walking with Jesus by Pete and Jason for so long and I absolutely love them all.

Like Pete singing the sweet heroin line too, remember Jason singing that line at the Spacemen 3 Watermans show about a thousand years ago.

I'll take a stab at it:

For SPECTRUM:

Octaves/Tremelos -- since this was made to be played at any speed, how about the 16rpm, 33rpm and 78rpm versions for the sheer insanity of it?
Overture [1:55] -- from GUITARRORISTS comp CD

For SOUL KISS (GLIDE DIVINE):

Don't Go (Instrumental I) [2:51]
Don't Go (Instrumental II) [3:33]
True Love Will Find You In The End (Extended Mix) [5:50]
True Love Will Find You In The End (Demo Mix) [3:14]
Soul Kiss [4:40] -- from VOLUME FOUR comp CD (edited from a 10+ minute track!]
Santa Claus/Christmas Message From Sonic Boom! [4:26]
Soul Kiss Glide Divine -- from famous split 7" with Stereolab (same as VOLUME FOUR track?)
Pulse Drone (Neon Sigh) [6:46] -- new version on EXCURSIONS IN AMBIENCE comp CD

For HIGHS, LOWS AND HEAVENLY BLOWS:

In The Fullness Of Time [9:54]
Turn The Tide (Sub-Aqua) [6:41]
Go To Sleep [7:05]

All this plus any gems from the vaults would be great!...

Peace.

There's also the Spectrum gig freebie 7" which has To The Moon And Back ( Instrumental Demo ) and Capo Waltz (Live) which is an early version of Sweet Running Water off Soul Kiss.

My Life Spins Round Your Every Smile (Remix) from the True Love... cd single.

Plus Mechanical Man off the Kozik Loser 7", though this has already appeared on What Came Before After. Would love to see Kozik's version on the B-side get a cd release, love his version.

The 5 track Indian Summer 10".

Anything later would fall into Forever Alien territory i guess.

Randall from Fuxa spoke about working on about 20-30 ideas for songs 3 years ago. If you track back the retunr to playing the songs live as opposed to the soundscapes I think it was 2002 that I went to a gig at the ICA in London - ever since then I have been hopeful for new material. The songs on War Sucks gave a lot of hope and promise - loved the EP. There must be other reasons why - we don't know though do we? Creative/money/right collaborators/inclination - who knows. I remain hopeful though and do welcome the re release of the solo lp which I think is really underated, the cd reissue of this and the first 2 Spectrum lps, especially Heavenley etc should give a wider audience the opportunity to own them. I think the cover/s of the solo lp remain my fav ever sleeve.

yes... I also have some of his earliest tracks called john mclaughlin and tony williams lifetime.
He was only 3 or 4 years old when he wrote those.
