Ive been searching for spacemen 3 rare videos forever and have found nothing. This is great news just to hear this exists. I don't even own a computer right now so I as well would greatly appreciate it if someone could possibly make a copy of this for me. I would definetly be willing to throw in some $$$ for it.
I've got it on my hard drive as an .iso now, so can easily rattle off copies for interested parties looking to trade. Send me a pm, or an e-mail, and we can work something out.
I'm missing the 'Angel' video on the DVD. I have a nearly complete version of it (ripped from the Spacemen website). I can make a bittorent file of it, if somebody is interested.
My ratio there always stays around .98, but I think that anyone who uploads a show anywhere near as essential as that deserves completely preferrential treatment.
i literally just finished my download - took about 24 hours on cable... i'll remain seeding for as long as i can, i like to share at least 1.5x what i D/L, tho usually go 2+.
i'm happy to get this show again, as my VHS copy is long gone. not to mention the extras.
From what i can tell, its a direct rip of the DVD so all the files you have are the files normally found on the DVD. Not sure if you can use Alcohol 120% or Demon Tools to create a virtual DVD drive. Apart from that you could try creating your own DVD image using Nero. If you get it sorted, you should be able to play it in Media player...
yes, it's the dvd files, easiest to just burn them to a dvdr. if you cannot, take a look around http://www.divx-digest.com/
plenty of info there on playing vob files, easy enough to do from what i read.
Thanks for your help. I got a copy of PowerDVD and got it working. There's 10 files, but only 6 of them play on PowerDVD. The 4 files that won't play are IFO and SUP files. Is this the same for everyone?
Gonna crank the speakers up and enjoy it all later...
i spent a few hours downloading the MC5 'true testamonial' vid in MPG format off soulseek - it only plays audio, some codec error, cant remedy it even with downloading new WMplayer off microsoft... and the 2 disc set is too big for 2 700mb discs
bah
--> i have in my pocket a hurricane fighter plane <--
Fuzzhead - it doesn't quite work like that. If you look on a commercial DVD in a computer, you'll see that there are two folders on it, called VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. The content in the VIDEO_TS is what a standalone DVD player reads. What you've downloaded is the VIDEO_TS folder from the Spacemen 3 DVD. To play it in PowerDVD, you need to click on the Select Source button (or press Ctrl+O) and select "Open DVD File On Hard Disk". Then browse to the downloaded folder, and, depending on the version of PowerDVD you've got, you'll either have to select the VIDEO_TS folder itself or the file VIDEO_TS.IFO. Then it should play exactly as if you had a finished DVD. You don't have to play the various VOB files on their own (and if you tried, some strange things might happen!).
Spacey - you probably need to download the DivX or XVid codec.
Having spent some time with this DVD (many thanks to Laz69) I can post a few comments.
The interviews are a lot of fun. 4 very stoned looking blokes, 3 of whom say nothing, being asked questions by Alan McGee. Jason looks in the first few clips like he would SO much rather be somewhere else. I must say I really don't like the format of those late 80s music programmes - 15 second interview clip/15 second video clip/more interview/more video. All the TV shows at the time were like that.
The live stuff from Germany is tremendous in places. My old video copy of this is pretty much unplayable. It still seems incredible that this is about the only live film I know of Spacemen 3 - did no one else ever film a gig? This is all filmed over Jason's left shoulder so the focus is on Pete with occasional movement towards Jon Mattock. The last section, Take Me To The Other Side, Revolution, Suicide, Little Doll, is excellent. Suicide is really fantastic. The combined drone of Pete and Jason shows why they were such a masterful noise team. The noise swirls from one to the other superbly. Nice to see a classic encore where they amble back on regardless whether anyone really wants them to, fart around with the equipment and play what is effectively half a song, then leave. The first Spacemen gig I saw, with them supporting Gaye Bykers on Acid, was like that - at the end there was largely silence from the audience, but they returned and played an encore anyway. That gig ended with Rosco standing at the back smoking a cigarette, watching Jason sit and squelch his wah-wah pedal with his hands as noise bellowed and bounced around the place. Bloody marvellous it was. The DVD really took me back...
does anybody know what happened to the DVDs that were to suppose to be sent out?? i have yet recieve anything. unless anybody else can make me a copy i would be happy to trade a live SPZ show.
Had a pointless saturday, but spent the evening by watching my vhs copy of that same Spacemen 3 concert.
Funny thing in the end is that after Sonic broke a string and sayed goodbye to the audience a voice of a lady is saying with real deception "Heiiiiiiii, Walking with Jesus????????!!!".
Nice nice, that someone in Germany knew by then about that song.
Fans in the underground know "alot". Sometimes weariness takes over knowing what fans do, by losing touch with their mind.
Yeah, but that gig is from 1989, you'd think that by then, most of the crowd would know the Spacemen's repertoire. Much funnier is the Rose Club gig from January 1988 – when someone calls out for Walkin’ With Jesus, Pete says “Jesus can’t be with us tonight. He’s doing some solo gigs.â€

Did you get it to work? sometimes mpeg1:s wont work in wmplayer or bsplayer etc even if you have the right codecs..
every time that has happened to me I use powerdvd; openmediafiles > selectsource > add the file to your playlist > ok

media player classic is good at playing just about any video files(this is nota a microsoft program). you may have to go to view>options>filters and check mpeg1.
just got my copy in the mail (thanks laz69!) and if anyone wants a copy we can work out a deal. i live in the us, but i could do international trades too.
Backer wrote:Yeah I agree. could someone please put this up again.
Me too-- put it up, I'd like to share it with others too.
BTW, the best way to get a VOB into a DVD as far as I'm concerned is:
1) Use dgmpegdec on the file to prep it (make a d2v file)
2) Use (purchased version) of TMPEG to make an MPEG2 out of it
3) Use your fav DVD making software to make the DVD
I'd be willing to put a DVD with a menu up on BitTorrent if I can get this VOB! Thanks.

my bad, I looked at the file list and it already is a DVD. Anyway, the method above will work if you want to edit already burned DVDs.
I've got the torrent files for this and will happily upload it to dimeadozen if someone could hold my hand through the upload/seed process.
Don't understand which of the files is the one that I upload to seed. Can someone PM as I've not uploaded before. I'll then stick it up for a couple of weeks.
Can't offer it online unfortunately, but i do have a small collection of DVDs and VCDs of Spiritualized if anyone is interested in snail mail trades. PM me if anyone is still looking...
Since they are mentioned in another topic on here, i have a really good Dirtbombs DVD from last year. Top RocknRoll!
The torrent of this is very much alive but only just. theres one seed (100%) and me 3% if anyone else is inclined to get involved ive included the address for the torrent file below / you may need to register for pure live gigs (its a good site if you like quality live bootlegs)
When i get to 100% ill leave it running for two months at 512kb upload from an always on computer so please join in.
I'm about half way through on this one, should have the rest over the next few days I'd wager. Once it's all in the can I'm happy to keep seeding it as well for the forseeable future.

That sounds amazing! Love the bit about the wah wah, you can picture it all. Noisy chaos!

I thought 'shit! I was at that gig!', but now I realise it's my own words listed above. But it was a nice reminder. Ah well. Happy days.
I'm downloading now. I've never been able to get an account with dimeadozen.org, I finally got one, does anyone have any reccomendations? I'm 5% through this Spacemen 3 DVD. I think I can burn it to DVD and than use CloneDVD mobile to convert it to an .mp4 file but I'm not sure on that. I say that because cloneDVD mobile from Slysoft has a trial version and I think it would work for converting this thing to an mp4 file. If anyone is interested in an mp4 version of this, I'm likely going to make one after I download it so just let me know.
